I don't think Jay Cutler's every bitched about his perception from others. I'm not saying you are implying he has or does, it's more of a branch thought of what you mentioned.

The reason for all of this is everyone knows that Cutler blows up under fire. He is NOT good when he is pressured.

So he comes out and he LOOKS more FRUSTRATED than he does HURT. I think he was frustrated because he had been injured more than how the game was going.

I think for any professional player they want the opportunity to turn the game around and he realized he couldn't go and was pretty pissed about it. Would it have been nice to see him over on the sidelines like Woodson trying to pump up his team? Sure, but I really won't judge him because his reaction to not being able to compete was different than that.

PS- I am not any big Cutler fan by any means but I am cutting him slack on this debate.

I wonder if he felt he could go and the medical staff said no, at the urging of the coach? Maybe Cutler felt like "hey I'm walking just fine, f*cking get those guys to pass block and I got this!"

They should mic every player and have a camera on every player. 24/7, screw privacy!

I'm not so sure but it didn't even look like Cutler was trying to help Hanie or Collins when he got hurt. You'd figure he would at least try to help his team in SOME way.

I don't question his toughness. I question his commitment to his team.

Apparently he played at Colorado State (20 mins north of me) and was on the radio.
The announcers were bashing Jay Cutler.
Caleb Haine said that Jay Cutler helped him quite a bit. He's a local guy around here.

Just because the camera's didn't show, doesn't mean it didn't happen. Jay being the bad guy is a story, Jay helping out the rookie is not what the "popular" opinion thrives for.

Okay so let's get back to the original topic.

Is Lovie Smith really that big of a dumbass? Woodson has a broken collar bone and Driver hurt his ankle bad enough to be in a walking boot.

Driver (I believe) tried playing through it but he showed that he was in a considerable amount of pain. Woodson's injury was obviously serious. Also; both of them stayed up and around their teammates cheering them on and helping them out. As far as we know (and it's probably correct) Cutler didn't do any of that.

Jay Cutler didn't have any limp at all and it didn't appear that his knee affected him in any way when he went back out for another series.

Solicit is stupid for even making this comparison.

I like how he used Tomy Romo, who had a busted collarbone as well. 🙂

By the way Wade, I know you were just expressing your opinion, but others are doing the exact same thing, even if it's of a different nature.

I guess I wasn't clear enough on what I was trying to say (what else is new?). I brought the diabetes story in primarily to point out that there are multiple possible explanations, some which, if true, would reflect ill on Cutler's character as a person/teammate, some of which do not. And given that there are multiple possible explanations, the rest of us should avoid commenting on his character or lack thereof.

Call me a goody-goody or idealist or whatever, but I just think we find it far too easy to comment negatively on the character of people we know next to nothing about. I know all about NYTimes v Sullivan and the rule that we can legally say a lot more nasty stuff about "public figures" than about the person who lives next door; but that doesn't make it morally right for us to exercise that legal ability with as much regularity as we all do.

My point is not that Cutler's sideline behavior was due to diabetes. My point was that, unless we are somehow privy to what his teammates, coaches, etc. think about his sideline attitude, we should all content ourselves with commenting about the quality of his on-the-field performance.

Or, ahem, the lack thereof. 🙂
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

don't know if cutler was hurt or not & really don't care.
i find what lovie said to be in the poorest of taste.
not cool & it smacks of sour grapes.
then again, i really don't care what lovie smith says.
we beat em & won the damn super bowl.
screw you lovie!! LOL.

The media called out Cutler on this, not Packer fans. Lovely is a tool for trying to deflect it to compare to Driver and Woodson.

The real issue for us as Packer fans is that if we had a really dog shit quarterback situation like the Vikings have: would you want or accept Jay Cutler as your quarterback. And I think the answer for most of us is no. His personality does not fit our team.

The rest of this is BS, funny, but BS all the same. And Wade, this is football, there's no pouting in football.

Who said that it was Packer fans and not the media who called out Cutler on this?

Lovie just chose Driver and Woodson as the most handy examples of players who got hurt during a game and were not questioned about it. Cutler's situation was a little different because his injury was not so obvious, but I thought he had already established himself as a tough player during the season, when he got knocked around more than any other QB in the league and kept getting up off the mat.

The Cutler controversy was all driven by the fact that most people simply don't like the guy. I don't like him either. I think he's a weenie. His pouty appearance on the sidelines reinforced what people already thought about him. But I don't question his toughness. When he came back onto the field in the second half, he couldn't even plant his feet to throw the ball properly.
