Part two-
Thornton was a low production receiver, and that is the book on him.
The Vols run what's called a Deep Choice Concept, and more specifically, something named veer shift. Can be Googled- Long story short, they don"t throw the ball to Dont'e Thornton all that much...
But man, when they do...
QBR when targeted 140.56
8.94 yards after catch
12.97 air yards per reception
21. 9 yards per catch career
Measures 6'5" 206 lbs
4.30 forty
1.51 split
9.80 RAS
Go watch his tape.
He takes the top off,
and he can catch!
In my opinion, he is the most enigmatic prospect in the draft, especially for Packer fans.
BTW- In a presser he was asked if anyone ever clocked his speed. He said that one of the coaches at Oregon (transfer) got him at 24.3 miles per hour going for a block. That's fast.
Al Davis would have taken him in the first round if he was still with us, I have no doubt, which allowed me to semi- legitimately place a projected undrafted free agent in a first round pick guess thread.
