i only watched the first half but as far as i'm concerned, the game was doomed from the start with that gawd awful star spangled banner rendition!! where do they FIND these people??

4PackGirl - Missed ya in the game chat. We were going off on that horrible disgrace. That was just terrible. I think Roseanne Barr's performance was even better than that.

then nbc's complete lack of replays on flags was inexcusable! collinsworth & michaels talked about everything BUT what was going on in the game. they even referenced sharper being in on a tackle when he was on the sidelines sans uniform. nbc needs serious help with the camera AND the commentators.

onto brett. i thought he looked strange out there. seemed like he kept tripping over an invisible thread almost everytime the ball was snapped. i think his ankle is in much worse shape than i thought. my one wish for him is to NOT injure himself beyond repair. the way he looked last nite, maybe the damage is already done in that department. i dunno. we'll see what the rest of the season brings.

I think you go into the NFL knowing that you'll be taking years off your life.

No kidding. Alan was head and shoulders better than that blonde was (hair might have been a tie, though). I've seen funeral processions that moved faster.

Heck, I've seen guys in caskets move faster.

Speaking of the Vikings... Foster's favorite gnome is still missing. Anyone know him offline? -- Is Nick pissed at us or something?

You guys are afraid of this team?

Oh yeah and this just in, Favre is an old man and should have been in a recliner watching that game last night.

1. The Vikings went toe-to-toe against the defending champs in their stadium with a pumped up crowd, and although the Vikings had some important players out with injuries and their offense was out of sync, they almost won the game.

2. Lots of people (including me) said that about Favre at the beginning of last year. We were all wrong.

First.....Thank you Wade for the great compliment! I didn't get to hear the national anthem last night. Sounds like it must have been BAD!

Now, on to the game. The Saints SHOULD have scored alot more points. there were dropped passes, missed FG's, and all.
I actually listened to some of the game on the radio, on the "Vikings" network. They said that Favre played a "mediocre" game.
I had recorded the game (but started it late cause i didn't know if i had enough tape) and it seem Favre was pretty good in the first half. But in the 2nd half, i thought he kind of stunk it up.
Seems to me that what has been said of him is true. Get ahead of him, and he folds.

Favre skipped camp like last year. But last year he didn't have to play the Super Bowl champs. He had to play Detroit and Cleveland. They still held him to 155 and 110 yards.

I expected a poor performance.

MN lucked out on 3 seperate 15 yard penalties. 2 on offense that would have negated big pass plays. On that was at least 20 yards. The offsetting facemask penalty was a BS call. Loadholt did grab a facemask, but the Saint had the guy by the top of the helmet. NBC refused to replay it when they realized it showed up the reffs. They also refused to replay Allen hitting Brees below the knee well after the play action pass on 3rd and 1 at the start of the final drive. The last one was a replay they only showed once because it was missed by the refs again. Loadholt with a hand full of facemask.

Formo, Jared Allen doesn't get credit for his tackle if it happened after the back crossed the goal line. Tackles in the endzone don't count.

The Vikings got handled. It wasn't as close as the score seems to indicate. 2 missed FGs and 3 huge dropped passes. One in the end zone. It could have been 9-27.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.
