I wonder if the team would trade away Bishop. Provides some depth, and a few plays here and there, but overall he doesn't seem to have what it takes to get on the field on a consistent basis.

And this is one of the positives of the 3-4.

Zombo actually had a pretty decent college career, but just didn't seem to translate well to the NFL. You get him standing up at OLB and things change a little. It's so hard to project whether a prospect will succeed in the NFL. Having to project a change of position next to that only makes it harder. You can find some real talent in the later rounds or even after the draft.

James Harrison comes to mind.

That said, Brad Jones was last year's great revelation and I wasn't that impressed. Obiozor has been a fan favorite but he hasn't really done anything. He's actually getting beaten now by this same guy Zombo.

One last thing, if he makes the final roster, I hope they change his numbers. 47 is no LB number. 58 is still available. For an OLB, numbers in the 90s are pretty cool. We still have 97 and 99 open.

Zombo becoming a pass rusher is a good thing. It seems to me we have a lot of linebackers that do certain things well but only Barnett and Matthews do not need to be taken off the field in certain situations.

I love the mix of youth and veterans, and it will be up to the coaches to sort it all out. I personally believe that Hawk, Chiller, and Poppinga are overpaid; but that is Uncle Ted's pet position. The 34 is a linebacker defense so that is where the money should go. We should maybe be getting a little more bang for the buck though.

Chillar is still starting... just at ILB. (right?)
My guess is they just want to get Chillar time at both.
But if anything it's Zombo over Bishop
(which pisses Bishop off).

I wouldn't be totally against trading Bishop seeing as he's not going to want to resign with the Packers unless he gets a good amount of playing time and the final year of his contract.

If the agree to a new CBA agreement where he's a FA he's gone.

Zombo doesn't really come into competition with Bishop (who is the #4 ILB). Zombo is competing with Jones and Poppinga at OLB.
