those points are all true WPR (thanks for helping me out here 🙂 and the other thing is I don't believe the season is toast w/out rodgers...are the pack a SB contendor anymore? I don't know, but still potentially playoff-bound which is why I don't think you should take the qb backup lightly.

At this point, I don't think you do much, though...I think Derek A. would have been the best viable option for the team, but that ship has sailed. Again, I was just saying "in a perfect world..."

Can we clone Rodgers and make him a back-up?

We can name him....

My Bear buddy told me yesterday that he does not see a weakness anywhere on our team. He said we are more stacked than most past Super Bowl winners.

The GB sports writers are fat, rich, old women gossiping about nothing.

I'm with you on that. Sure, nit-picking the team you can find a few things BUT put a realistic list of all the things other teams might have concerns about and compare the two. Doesn't it boil down at this point to how we stack up against all the other teams starting with our own division?

Yeah, it could get a little hairy if Tauscher or Clifton went down but I look at the Vikes Oline and don't see any answers there behind their front line players. The article talks about weak spots but as far as I am concerned what only matters in this regard is how our weak areas stack up against the other teams. It's a discussion about the quality of depth.

As far as the QB position goes I like what I see in Flynn. The bottom line is if Rodgers goes down for more than two, three, games or more, our chances fall greatly no matter what. So dealing for a veteren QB would possibly pay off if they were good enough to get W's for a couple of weeks until Rodgers got back. My guess is Flynn knows the system better than anybody else and is a good athlete and competitor so I doubt whoever they were to bring in at this point leapfrogs him.

I prefer a guy who has been in the system for 3 years but hasn't really played over someone who has played (and failed) and has only been in the system for maybe a month or two.

Derek Anderson had one good season in Cleveland, then he regressed the following year. And before that one good season, he was.......inexperienced! He was coming off a rookie season in which he only played in five games and threw five TDs and eight interceptions.

In the NFL, inexperienced players are constantly making an impact. I would rather go with a solid-looking inexperienced QB like Matt Flynn than a player who had one good season and then regressed. Plus, Flynn won a national championship as a college QB. He's not intimidated by being on a big stage. It's funny that we are having this discussion just three days after Flynn's best performance as a pro, the game in which he showed that he can put it all together and be a legitimate NFL QB.

The article is a general overview of the roster and is highly speculative, so I take it for what it is. It's more about asking questions than asserting strong opinions. I think it's written for an audience that is less informed than most of the people on this site.
