Clearly, he's no returner. So, do they keep him around as a corner? I think he gets cut and put on the practice squad.

Return skills are nonexistent.

*ball fielding skills non-existent.

Which, I'd suppose, is fundamental to returning punts/kicks. As the announcers said he's "raw" right now -- and suffering from understandable confidence issues. Hopefully we keep him in some capacity, because outside of his televised gaffes he's a pretty freakish athlete.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I could see him making another team's roster, but is it worth holding onto him in the chance that he develops? I'm not sure. He seems to be capable as a defensive back. Capable enough I suppose.

I like the qualitative perspective from guys like Woodson, who claims Shields has the "it" quality. Woodson has great football instincts himself so I give extra weight to what he has to say. Shields is struggling in a returning role but his physical skills may necessitate a practice squad spot.

If guys like Giacomini can keep a spot on this roster, sheesh ...

I have said from the day he was drafted, they took him out of WR and put him at CB for a reason. He was also a gunner and the only time he carried the ball was on a hand off.

He did get the int.

No way he makes it to the PS. Keep him on the roster, in two years he'll start ahead of Tramon Williams. Kid only has one year on defense in college. He's still learning. He's gonna be a good one. Can't field kicks, but he comes up with INTs pretty consistently.

Shields is a huge talent. HUGE talent. He needs to harness his ability on an every down basis and avoid the issues which plagued him before the draft. If he can do this, he will indeed be the steal of the draft period and a tremendous asset to the Packers. If the Packers get a bit creative, his speed could be used in a lot of ways, which would give other teams something else to worry about. I would love to see Shields make the team. We havent had a versatile special teams player in quite some time.

He's not a returner, but I think his coverage skills are improving. He's also not a bad candidate to put on the coverage unit. Imagine that speed as a gunner. Actually, he made a nice play on punt coverage.

I think that with time, he will evolve into a better returner. I think confidence is his main issue.

He looked pretty good while playing on defense - had the INT.

I don't want to see him cut, only to be picked up by another team. I'd rather have him on our team than Jaret Bush.

He was an excellent gunner in college yet we've tried to make him a returner since OTAs and it's consistently failed. Time to play him to his strengths.

Seems to have the raw ability to become a good CB too. No chance he clears waivers imo.

Still too raw to rely on in 2010, almost wish we could redshirt him.

Zero2Cool (40m) : Yes, the Pro Bowl. It was played Sunday before Super Bowl from 2010-2022

Zero2Cool (44m) : From 2010 to 2022, it was played on the Sunday before the Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (44m) : They moved it to the BYE week before Super Bowl several years ago.
packerfanoutwest (50m) : it was always after the SB.....

beast (10h) : I thought the pro game was before the Super Bowl?
packerfanoutwest (10h) : ok now for the Pro Bowl Game in Hawaii
TheKanataThrilla (11h) : If I was Philly I would try to end it instead of punting it
Mucky Tundra (11h) : VICTORY! We have (moral) victory!
TheKanataThrilla (12h) : Hey they mentioned that we 3-peted
Mucky Tundra (12h) : seems to me the 49ers should have traded Aiyuk when they had the chance
Mucky Tundra (12h) : if the Eagles get it down to the 1, do they Tush Push or give it to Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (12h) : 49ers have a money problem if they want to sign their QB
Mucky Tundra (12h) : Wait for real? Didn't he just get an extension two years ago?
Zero2Cool (12h) : 49ers gonna trade Deebo. Interesting
TheKanataThrilla (12h) : Replays always never seem to show the holdings
TheKanataThrilla (12h) : Great throw by Hurts
Mucky Tundra (12h) : Where Carter falls prey to bad off the field influences (to be clear, not saying he'd clip someone though)
Mucky Tundra (12h) : Had Carter not gone to Philly were they already had a lot of old college friends, he ends up in a similar spot to Aaron Hernandez
Mucky Tundra (12h) : I think some of his coaches told scouts to stay away
Mucky Tundra (12h) : the street racing incident+conditioning and motivation problems
beast (13h) : Then Carter was street racing, where the other car crashed and people died... and other teams were scared to pick Carter for some reason
beast (13h) : I think the Saints traded up, giving their next year 1st to the Eagles, and then they sucked and Eagles got the 10th overall pick
packerfanoutwest (13h) : wtf Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (13h) : Getting Carter and Nolan Smith in the first round in 2023 was pretty darn good
Mucky Tundra (13h) : for some reason i'm thinking of a draft where the Eagles where in the mid 20s and a top player fell all the way to them
TheKanataThrilla (13h) : I think so. I would need to look it up. Think it may have been Carolina's pick.
Mucky Tundra (13h) : i'm not sure who i'm thinking of now
Mucky Tundra (13h) : oh fuck me i messed that up
Zero2Cool (13h) : Jordan Davis was 13th overall
Zero2Cool (13h) : Carter was 9th overall
Zero2Cool (13h) : Eagles had 15th and 10th selections, moved to 13 and 9 to get Davis and Carter back to back
Zero2Cool (13h) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (13h) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (13h) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (13h) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (13h) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
packerfanoutwest (13h) : another crap halftime show
TheKanataThrilla (13h) : I think it is over, but then I think of Atlanta and want Philly to go in with the same intensity in the second half
Mucky Tundra (13h) : And with a Pass Rush that might as well be on a milk cartoon and no Jaire
Martha Careful (13h) : I cant help but feel good about how well the Packers D played in Philly during the playoffs
Mucky Tundra (13h) : this game is over
Mucky Tundra (14h) : This might be the kill shot here
Mucky Tundra (14h) : oh that's such a bad penalty for KC after getting the 3rd down stop
TheKanataThrilla (14h) : Philly DL has come to play
TheKanataThrilla (14h) : Ceoper DeJean with the INT scored...bad memories of draft night
Mucky Tundra (14h) : ok scratch that
Mucky Tundra (14h) : Game feels like last years Super Bowl: 49ers started off in control, moved the ball well but didn't have much of a lead to show for it
