Looks like the Browns blitzed the hell out of us the other night. I find it extremely encouraging that we were able to A. protect B. take advantage and make em pay. I think we'll be seeing a lot of that this year.

I think that may have been payback for '09 as I believe we blitz them to crap and they whined about it.

ya I read that article and glad its posted in its own thread. If I remember last year and that is we didnt have 1 sack last year (preseason) but also teams didnt really blitz us either.
And arod had a huge QB rating like 150+
We could see how that turned out for the first 1/2 of the season.

Looking good if our Oline and arod has improved in his reading skills and able to pick up the blitz and take it to them using our recievers (and hopefully screens).

and the article is right - well definately be seeing some blitzing from the eagles in our first game.

man, i thought they seemed aggressive. good to know they were actually being aggressive and we handled it pretty damn well. conversely, i'd actually be kind of ok with us not blitzing much at all in preseason and keeping it for the regular season. lets keep our tricks in the bag this year.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

Funny stat.

Aaron Rodgers' QB rating is actually higher when he gets blitzed. Of course, sacks aren't counted in, as he held onto the ball too long when blitzed from time to time, but still, that is one impressive stat.

84.6% blitz on Saturday and Aaron Rodgers wasn't touched once.

+1 to our pass protection.

+1 to Aaron Rodgers for making quick reads and releasing the ball as quick as he did.

Jermichael Finley says it perfectly....

"I hope everybody blitzes," said tight end Jermichael Finley. "Then we can put it on 'em."

Our pass game should be near unstoppable.

I think the reaction to think that people are going to blitz is a bit premature.

First.. the Packers oline is the same from the second half of last season.. with more depth on paper.. so if the Packers show they can pick them up preseason.. it will affect game plans against the Packers in the regular season.

Second.. Rodgers reading the blitz more effectively Saturday night.. followed up with that strike to Jennings will have defenses rethinking all out blitzes.. which in the circle of life will help our oline.

Then factor in Finley and at some point Quarless to the mix.. their ability to give the quick seams.. it will have opposing DC's fits in trying to contain this offensive attack..

Personally.. I think you are going to see less all out blitzes this season verse the Packers.. unless the line breaks down early again.. then .. well Aaron better be the Ironman he was last season.. the heat is coming.

Yeah, I agree with you. I honestly think if teams keep blitzing the Packers in the preseason, come regular season we will barely see anything close to say 50% blitzing?

84% is extremely high (and dumb) against a team that has the vertical threat such as the Packers.

Even if teams don't blitz, I don't see them stopping our pass.
And to shed some positive light onto Ryan Grant, teams not blitzing and worried about our pass threat will open the game up for him, which would be nice to see.

I think teams will blitz because it beats the alternative of letting Rodgers stand back there.

I also think they will blitz because it's either that or put another DB out there in coverage and then we have a better opportunity to run the ball more affectively.

I could see teams putting in extra DB's and challenging the run offense. At least they would stand a chance of slowing our O down. Let's just say I don't expect to see much seven or eight in the box against us that's for sure.

Even with their continuous blitzing, it didn't stop the first team defense. Not one bit.

Hilarious.
