1) Punter - One has to prove himself or Ted Thompson will bring in yet another punter. The job is not granted it must be earned.

2) Return man - If Blackmon doesn't perform here he may be cut. Could Starks be the guy

3) Defensive Line depth chart - Can Harrell earn a roster spot? Will the season have just be Wynn and Neal as backups each on a side and the 7th rounder be inactive?

4) TE - Can the rookie catch as well as Havner? Can he get open like Donald Lee? Is he just a practice squad candidate? Did the Packers draft a bust?

5) O-line practice squad. We know the 5 starters. Spitz, Lang, and Bulaga will be the back ups. Evan-Deitrich and Barbre will compete for the inactive spot on the 53 roster. Can Giacomini fend off the competition for the practice squad, does the rookie get it or are both on the practice squad?

6) Fullback depth chart - Does Quinn Johnson have the intelligence and pass catching ability to make it?

7) #5 CB - Will Pat Lee show any talent at all or drop off into the black hole of being a worthless bust? Imagine telling your family you were beat out by Jarrett Bush!!

8) RB depth - How fast does Starks learn blitz pickups? How smart is the guy and will he learn fast enough?

Great post. The only issue I have is questioning if Quarless is going to be a bust. This year is way too early to expect much out of a 5th round pick. It would be nice to see him step up, but unexpected.

Thanks Dexter. I would rather take a little more skeptical and pessimistic approach now and have players exceed expectations instead of expecting too much.

For example, Bulaga is a great prospect but he came out early and only turned 21 in March. By his third year he should be very much improved.

I always say if a rookie comes in and plays like an average player that is a very good rookie season (example Barnett). Most like Collins, Rodgers, KGB, Kampman, and Finley, take a little time.

Quarless is a 5th round pick as was Donald Lee (Miami). I have never seen him play. He is a question mark.

youtube has a highlight video of him at Penn State. It is short but the thing that struck me is he looks like a WR until they try to tackle him. Then you see he is a head taller than the DBs. Kind of like Fin. Athletic and fast too.

TE #2: Quarless vs Lee. I predict Lee keeping his spot.

FB: I really think Hall and Kuhn earn the spots over Quinn. Quinn has proven to be one dimensional, a blocker. While Kuhn and Hall can do a little of both(blocking and catching). Kuhn even carrying a little.

WR #3 & #5: If I had to predict these spots, I'd say Jones will be the third receiver, and Dillon beats out Swain.

Punter: 'Nuff said.

HB #2: I think Jackon has this locked up. It would take a very good training camp and preseason from Starks. Which I guess can happen, but I'm not betting on it.

Nickel and Dime: As far as I'm concerned, right now Harris is still injured. So after Williams we have Lee, Underwood, and Bush(ugh). Go get it fellas.

OLB: Jones' spot to lose. And if he loses it, it will probably mean that someone stepped up and played incredibly well. Plain and simple, he wont have to do a whole lot to start at that spot.

I'm looking forward to seeing Morgan Burnett. I really believe he can solidify the secondary if he's as good as I think he can be. We'll see when the pads are on, but strong safety is a very intriguing position for me. The longer Bigby holds out, the more likely it is Burnett gets to start.

Remember all these great draft picks on draft day have now become dumb rookies. It will take a couple of years for them to develop.

Limited action to gain experience will be nice. I don't want to HAVE to depend on any of them for anything.
