3. Green Bay: Someday in the near future, NFL people will talk about how the Packers linebacking corps is like some four-headed nightmare. With Nick Barnett(notes), Clay Matthews(notes), Brad Jones and A.J. Hawk(notes) (who is almost an afterthought in this group), the Packers have the best combination of great tacklers against the run and potential pass-rush stars. Throw in the fact that Barnett is the only one older than 26 (hes 29), and you have the makings of something marvelous. Matthews was terrific all season, and Jones was a late-season revelation with all four of his sacks coming in the last five games.

I've always said Barnett was underrated. With young Willis in SF, Barnett may not be an All-Pro any time soon but Barnett is a solid player. Matthews obviously was a fantastic pick and trading up to get him was probably TT's smartest move last year. Brad Jones was a steal, and AJ Hawk has the football IQ to be good. It just needs to happen.

3rd best? You tell me. I only know us well.

Barnett hasn't gotten to Pro Bowls because of the insane level of the middle linebackers in the NFC. What with London Fletcher, Curtis Lofton, Jon Beason, Jonathan Vilma, Patrick Willis, and up until this season, Karlos Dansby.

If Jones can build on his solid rookie season, I can see him doing some great things if he can take advantage of Matthews getting double teamed.

Poppinga probably sticks around just because he's an experienced veteran and solid locker room presence even if he's not overly talented at getting to the QB. And who knows, maybe Obiozer or one of these other youngsters we had last year will step up and do something.

I think you are forgetting someone by the name of Brian Urlacher. Yes, he has declined recently, but he's also been one of the best MLB's in the league during much of Barnett's career.

Also, I don't understand why people are saying AJ Hawk hasn't done good while he's been here....I don't think I've ever seen AJ Hawk have a bad game since he's been here in Green Bay. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

I think AJ Hawk is a great linebacker for our team, and he may be our best.

Hawk has been a good LB. But I think many people expected a Matthews like impact along with solid play. I'm still hoping for that myself after watching him in college. Maybe a years experience and coaching by Greene and Capers it'll happen, got my fingers crossed.

Jones could be a real gem. Just like Driver. He has all the tools, speed, smarts, needs more strength and weight but that should come with maturity and S&C. He just needs to be able to put it all together. Only question is how good are his football intincts.

I agree with PackerTraxx. It's not that AJ Hawk is bad. It's his expectations were so high.

It's like when everyone and their Grandma tell you that a certain movie is the best movie they've seen in years and you go out and see it and it's good, but your expectations were so high that it's a letdown.

AJ Hawk was supposed to be a Pro Bowler by now.

Of course I'm glad we have AJ Hawk, so hope nobody read that I don't like him. I do. He's a good LB.

There solid, but not No. 3 IMO.

I would take Dallas, Minnesota, N.Y. Jets, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh over the Pack.

Maybe Washington too.
