Hey guys,
I have joined a team with a friend of mine (TEAM ANIMAL) to help support the Special Olympics in Illinois. We will be gathering a team of 20 participants (hopefully, only at 6 now) to tug-o-war a 198,000 pound UPS Airbus A300!
This event is huge every year and is my first time participating.

I am jacked for so many reasons about this event. This is literally my first time ever, in 25 years of my life that I am giving back or helping others (sad, I know). However, I am helping now and couldn't be happier.

Of course, this is where I ask for donations...but I'm not bold enough to just straight up ask for people's money. Our team needs to raise $1000, in which if we have 20 participants come the time of the event, I will have met my individual goal already of $50. Honest to God, your words would do me good because at the same time I am overly nervous about it as well.

Thanks for your support...as usual..you guys are awesome.

-Sean

G-Force......it's never too late to start helping others! I commend you on your desire to "give back" to the community. Funny thing is, i bet YOU will get more out of helping these people then they will get!
You may get some lifetime friends, that will love you forever.
Don't be nervous!
I'm PROUD of you!!!

I used to be nervous like you, when it came to helping others. But i ALWAYS got so much out of it!
And in the end, they are just people like you and me, who need love and companionship.
Funny thing is, some people that are know as "slow" are sometimes the most loving, unjudgemental people you will ever meet.

As an older brother to a handicap, I always stand in support for the Special Olympics and those who donate their time, money, and efforts to it. As Cheesey said.. I'm proud of and for you.

Reminds me of the movie, 'The Ringer'. Poor acting on Johnny Knoxville's part (remember though, he's not an actor), but great overall tone to the movie. It gives a LOT of insight to the athletes and such. On the special features part of the DVD, two of the athletes/actors that are handicapped had built a really strong bond with Knoxville. It was REALLY cool to hear them call Johnny their 'very best friend'. I'd recommend that movie to any and everyone. The plot sounds bad, and most people don't give it the time of day. But you have to think.. The Special Olympics would not have given them the rights to use their name and likeliness if the script wasn't approved by them in the first place. Unfortunately, most people don't think about that (like most of my family) and think it makes fun of them.

Sorry for the soapbox talk.. Bottom line.. Have a blast and make TONS of friends!

Formo- when I first saw that movie I got the positive impression from it and had the same thought as you (as far as the Special Olympics approving them to use their name).

And you are right, Knoxville is not an actor. I need to watch the special scenes part, I own the movie.

Thank you.

They are good.. Knoxville almost gets emotional because of the impact those athletes had on him. Good stuff.
