Polar - Will all due respect, we're talking about Defensive Player of the Year award. Last time I checked, this award is given to the one guy on the Defense who does defensive shit.
So hypothetically, Revis could be a better CB. Hell, I'll be the first one to say he's the best true shutdown Corner since Neon.
Now, all around Defender. Woody shuts down the running game to his side. Shuts it down. He tackles any RB who runs in his area. Not only does he tackle them, he often strips the ball from them.
Fact. Woody's got 74 total tackles. Revis - 54.
Woodson also can switch positions. While like I said, Revis is the BEST shutdown CB in the NFL, this is a DPoY award and Woody covers WRs, TEs, RBs, and even plays Safety when needed. He's consistently switching positions. Heck, he even blitzes. He's got 2 sacks. Revis - 0.
Fact. Woody's #1 in the NFL in INTs. Actually, he's tied for #1 with Samuel, however he smears him in total tackles, and forced fumbles.
Fact. Woody sits alone at the #1 in the NFL position for defensive TDs.
These are simply things you can't argue.
Now, hypothetically, you can argue Revis is a better CB. However, you'd be wrong to argue that Revis is a better Defensive player.
This isn't CB of the Year, it's Defensive Player of the Year. Woody deserved it and for once, I agree with the majority of sports writers.
