As the article alluded to, we've read this about Jordy before, and to be honest, how many "Man, #55 sure looks like dog $hit out there right now" articles do you typically read this time of year...contract squabbles, sure, but it's often sunshine and lolipops from the press.

Greg also touched on the point...do you really foresee him being better than our top 3 targets, and there is only 1 ball.

It's a feel good article and it would appear to bode well for whenever Driver tails off, so I'm not trying to be Buzz Killington here, but at the same time, I don't know that this will translate to monumental differences in production.

Let's not forget there is something called the IR so I am very glad to see this. It seems as though if Nelson were called on to play a greater role he would be ready for the task.

The WR position is unique in that if your #1 guy goes down it affects that position and the #2, #3, and, #4 as well like the CB position.

If, heaven forbid, Driver went down we have two solid alternatives because I think Jones is a tough kid that could go over the middle on those tough routes but so coud Nelson. This allows GJ to stay where he is at doing what he does best.

Quality depth. I harp on it all the time but about the middle of the season when our backups step up and play better than other teams backups it actually starts getting down to that in determining how the season ends up.

I personally expected this development.

I remember "The Forum Bitching" when Ted selected a Jordy a WR with the 36th overall pick in 2008. Did not fill a need was the tantrum! One must remember though, even though Jordy was the 36th player selected that year.... there were no WR's taken at all in the first round. It is pretty obvious Ted and the staff saw something special in him. Only only two WR's were se;ected over him.. Donnie Avery and Devin Thomas.

Now.... James Jones development I did not see coming. This is classic Ted. Finding something very good later. Jones, the 78th pick in 2007 had 13 WR's drafted ahead of him.

Calvin Johnson
Ted Ginn Jr.
Dwayne Bowe
Robert Meachem
Craig Davis
Anthony Gonzalez
Sidney Rice
Dwayne jarrett
Steve Smith (USC)
Jacoby Jones
Yamon Figurs
Laurent Robinson
and... Jason Hill.

It is great... This team is set for years as far as targets for a Q.B. who will be the best QB in the NFL for years to come.

Yes, to be four deep at WR with this level of talent is something that never happened in the Sherman or Wolfe eras, and possibly not before then, either. And we've got a great young TE as well, with an intriguing TE prospect joining the team this year.

And it couldn't come at a better time with the NFL going all pass happy. You have to be able to outscore people in today's NFL. Great defense and a ball control offense just won't cut it anymore.

I hope Quarless developes too. He is a little shorter and a little heavier than Finley. Faster too. 2 TEs like Fin and Q with Starks in the backfield, we could go from 2 fullback run formation to empty backfield in a hurry. I can see it now, Donald in tight, Jennings out wide, Fin, Q and Starks in the backfield. The D has their base D to stop the obvious run, SHIFT. Donald, Q and Starks out to the right in a bunch, Fin and Jennings out to the left. Who do you cover with your base. Fin and Q can out run the LBs and they outweigh the safeties by 50 lbs. But you still have to worry about DD and Jennings. Don't forget about Starks sneaking out in the flats, he's just as fast and has great hands.

I know it may be a couple years before that happens, but I can dream can't I? DD said he wants to play 'til he is 40.

It could happen.
