First off id like to know were hes gonna play on the line everyone thinks hes gonna be a T but I think hes fit to play G I think he will backup Josh Sitton.
Could he develop into a starter? He looks good hes athletic he was the fastest guard in the combine in terms of his 40 I just want to get your guys thoughts on this guy he could have an impact if someone gets hurt on the line.

I think he's going to be an OG. But he needs to learn to keep his elbows in to get a good punch, and I think he's going to be a couple of year project and could end up on the PS this year.

If he goes on the practice squad, he will be wearing another team's uniform by week 6.

Probably doesn't mean too much but I believe he was taking snaps behind Barbre and some UDFA lineman at mini camp. I still probably wouldn't get my hopes up on him making too much of an impact this year.

He's definitely a guard as a pro. I don't know who was saying otherwise.

He's a high effort guy. He isn't very long though and maybe not as tall as you'd like. I don't see why he wouldn't beat out Barbre especially if the team views Bulaga and Lang as backup tackles.

Do I think he has a shot at starting this year?

Maybe because he's not going take plays off, but I don't think he's as NFL ready as Josh Sitton was. He's got an uphill battle to unseating Spitz and Colledge.

I like this pick. It will surprise me if he does not make the team. If he goes to the practice squad, I agree, he's gone. This year I don't expect any impact, maybe a little playing time. But in a couple of years I look for him to challenge for a starting spot, which would make him at least a good backup. More meat in the middle.

It's just that it's a numbers game and this is the deepest the Packers OL has been in a long time. Yes they had the best OL in the NFL for a while there for the depth behind those great five may not compare with the depth behind the current guys.

Last year are OL finshed as

Clifton, Colledge, Wells, Sitton, Tausher

Assuming it stays the same guys (which it might not be) the back-ups would be

Bulaga, Barbre, D-Smith, Spitz, Lang
or
Bulaga, Spitz, D-Smith, Lang, Giacomini

(MM said Lang is playing on the right side this season)

That's a pretty good second string (and no they're not all starting worthy but good 2nd string.)

And Newhouse is playing behind both Barbre and UDFA McDonald.

While you may or may not like the starters, that's a tough 2nd string to break just like the Packers WR... it would be hard for any late round pick to break into the top 4... just like it's hard for any late pick OL to jump into the top 9 or 10 OL after we got Bulaga...

Hopefully it won't be that difficult to beat out Giacomini and Barbe. Although if this is finally Giacomini's year then I'm more then happy with that. I'd love to see why they have kept him around for so long.

I doubt Barbe will stick around. Even if he's "got talent," I think they'll give someone else the benefit of the doubt now such as Newhouse.
