Need help with Father's Day project

I'm putting together a DVD with all of the pictures my dad took while he was stationed in Thailand and Vietnam for a Father's Day gift. He's wanted something like this done for quite a while now, and I'm finally able to do it for him.

Anyways, my dad was in the Air Force and was stationed there in 1971 and 1972. The problem I'm having is finding which Air Force logo is the correct one from that time. There's the star with actual wings coming off it, and then there is the star with the stripes horizontally on the side. I've googled and checked a bunch of sites, but haven't found a straight answer yet.

Thought I'd give it a shot on here. Seems like there's an answer to almost any question with the people on this site! Haha! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Whoa! Stationed in Thailand in '71 and '72 before the AIDS crisis? Some guys get all the luck.
