I'm saying, Rourke, that it shouldn't matter the medium, if your purpose is to communicate subjects to the mass, speak the mass' language. Now, it's the NYTimes.. I don't know who their target demographic is so I really don't care how they decide to communicate.

Re: slang and the Times

1. Who defines what is slang and what has made it in to the real language.
2. What is the difference between slang and colloquialism?
3. Must the answer to #1 and #2 not be different in a world where language evolves faster?
4. I really don't give a flying fuck about anything the NYTimes does or doesnt do anymore. I consider reading it nearly as much a waste of time as watching CNN.

I think Formo raised the best point so far -- it depends on the demographic the paper has chosen. Obviously, if they were targeting Vibe's audience, the word "tweet" would raise no eyebrows.
