I was golfing (trying to, at least) at a little free 3 hole course they have here in Grafton. They don't take care of it very well, so after hitting a few balls, i decided to take a walk into the woods to see if i could find any lost golf balls in there. As i was walking, i saw a little brown patch to my right, about 10 feet away. There, a little fawn was laying! I went back to the car, where my wife was waiting for me, and i grabbed her phone to use the camera in it. I thought the little guy would be gone by the time i got back, but it was still there. I got a couple pics of it before it got scared and ran away. It was really neat to see!
If i get the pic into my computer, i'll try to post it.
It was just a neat thing to see.

From what I've read, instead of running, fawns typically try and lie perfectly still because their spotted coat is usually hard to see in dappled light. Unless you come too close it'll lie still in the hopes that you did not spot it.

I wanted to get a good picture, so i was litterally close enough to it to pet the thing! I'm SURE that's why it got up and ran. It's on a little island, so i just left it alone once it ran the short distance. "Mom" was probably close and watching.

That's cool Cheesey. Not often we get close to wildlife. But, out here when we come across stuff like that we run for cover. Usually it's a baby Lion or Elk or Moose and mama's aren't really sociable. If we see a baby whatever in our yard, we take cover because Mama is not far away and ready to take you down.

Better to be a damn coward than dead, or need 600 stitches to close you up.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
