This is a day three topic but since I won't get home until late I want to ask who and when should GB pick up for a punter.

I don't know much about them. There are only a few listed on NFL.com and there does not seem to be a lot there.

NFL Specialists

Zoltan Mesko  looks like the best candidate. He has a few things going for him.
1. 4 year "starter" at Michigan. It is tough for anyone to be good enough to start at a major program like MI for 4 years.
2. While most college football isn't played in cold weather I like him over some of the other punters who played for Fresno, East Carolina or V Tech.
3. 44.5 avg is not bad.
4. He was able to drop the ball inside the 20 on a consistant basis. That something that has been lacking in GB punters.
5. I like the idea of a 6-5 240 pound punter.
6. He has shown "poise under pressure".
7. And finally I love the name- Zoltan.

GB is not a team with a lot of major needs. I would like to see them use their first 5th round pick and select this kid. I hate using a pick that high but they do not have anyone that looks very good right now and I don't want to see them stumbling around this year like they have in the past years trying to patch up that position.

I'd be open to using a pick on a punter. But if I have the choice between a punter and O'Brien Schofield with that pick I take the pass rushing OLB.

If we can take a punter with the 6th pick I'd be happier 🙂

We can't trade our 5th round compensatory pick, so if he's there at 169, I wouldn't mind the Packers taking him. P is clearly a major need for this team and he wouldn't be a huge reach at that spot.

my concern with waiting until the 6th round is that he could be gone and then they would have no one to fill the spot. The same goes for waiting until their compensation pick. If GB reaches and picks him up early at least they would have a real punter.

heck I would really prefer to pick him up as a free agent but who knows how that would play out.

Why is someone considered a reach at any particular spot? One's value is what another is willing to give up for him so technically no pick is a reach. It may be a reach to those who would not pick him at that particular spot, but is clearly not a reach to the one who valued him there.

It's all rather subjective.

Zoltan is the second best punter in the draft. I wouldn't mind taking him in the sixth. Plus, he has the most important thing for a punter or kicker going for him, an eastern european name
This is a placeholder

Id be up for taking a punter - better then some random from australia (no offense to the aussies)

we got 4 picks left ...

p, olb, qb, rb or corner or wr ... Id actually hope we grab a punter rather then someone else like another wr (but we do need a return man too) ...

Sorry, but you are wrong here. Va Tech plays in some very bad weather. You may not realize it, but it gets very cold here in VA in the winter. They play in 20 degree weather sometimes, and it rains / snows VERY often in Blacksburg (where they are located).

So Brent Bowden would be a great selection as well. He has experience in bad weather.
