Interesting that he is coming from Kirk Ferentz program, who also happens to be a big supporter of Joe Philbin (Bedard went as far as to say Ferentz swears by Philbin on the O-line).

This is an interesting factor, aadP. The thing that has driven me crazy since about 2005 is the weakness of the OL as measured by
[ol]🇱🇮how many times the Packers run on 3rd-and-short or 4th-and-short[/li]🇱🇮vs. how many times they go to the quick slant to Driver or Jennings[/li][/ol]
Which to me means that the playcaller, Coach McCarthy, does not have total confidence in the OL for the run game when the chips are down.
But with an OT who is obviously from a coaching "family" -- Iowa, Ferentz -- which also has a position coach on the Packers -- Philbin -- it could lead to [ol]🇱🇮better coaching[/li]🇱🇮more confidence in the OL as a whole[/li][/ol]
Because this perennial quest for "gel" -- as in, "The OL will gel this off-season," -- is accomplished by coaching. Effective coaching.
Well, that is just a miseducated guess, but let's see how it works out.
