I don't understand why we'd draft Spiller, though. Our running back notched 1250 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. This is on top of our 4000+ yard passing season. Why do we need another starting back? I guess you could make the same argument for not drafting OL in the first round, though: the offense racked up all those stats despite the deplorable state of the OL. Maybe the Packers front office is hoping to compensate for poor line play by sheer brute scoring. It would be fun to watch.

Because we have just one RB who can run the ball well. There's no change of pace, no speedster, no one to swing outside in motion.

Jackson is always injured and, while I like him, he's not that great a runner. Once you get him behind some blockers on a screen, he does fairly well, but his dancing style combined with his relatively slow top end speed don't make for a great 3rd down weapon. Or change of pace guy, when Grant needs a breather or anything.

And he's highly inconsistent. He'll show up and make some great plays on week, looking like Barry Sanders Jr. Next week, he'll jump around, run into his OGs a couple of times and you don't see him back the rest of the day.

Spiller's speed, hands and playmaking ability is something we could use. Worst case, he'll be a Reggie Bush type of player. Someone who you can use on screens, return kicks, return punts, a great receiver and an all-around weapon.

Best case would be Chris Johnson. It's a longshot, but he has the tools to do it.

Of course, this most likely means that we'll pass up on Hughes. So I don't want us anywhere close to this trade.

I think it's obvious we need another running back but I think we should pick one up later in the draft. I don't want to be burning multiple picks on just a change of pace back unless he's the most talented player available when we pick.

I don't think Spiller is Chris Johnson 2.0, but he's a dynamic type of runner and a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Plus, he upgrades three phases of the game. The return game, running game and receiving game. Also, Ryan Grant is 27. He's not going to last probably more than two or three seasons. If that.

I could see Miami accepting less to move down. They need a pass rusher and nose tackle. Not sure if any 3-4 OLB or NT is worth that pick. Plus the Parcells/Wolf/Thompson connection plays a factor.

My guess is a first and first next year gets something done or even a 1, 2 and 5.

Our second round pick will likely get us to somewhere between 9 and 15.

The Bills might be interested in trading back if they think Clausen may fall to them. Like I've said before, the only way we'll trade up is if Bulaga, Okung, or Trent Williams are still available. I just can't imagine any other player would be worth that price tag.

If those guys are all gone, It could see us trading back and nabbing Jerry Hughes. I don't even think I'd have a problem with him at 23 because pass rushers are just so valuable. I think it really depends on what Brad Jones did this offseason, and whether our front office thinks he could be our long term OLB. Kyle Wilson would also lock up a future cornerback spot while immediately improving the return game.

Can't wait til Thursday!!!

I would love it if the Packers moved up to grab Stiller.

He can take a 4 yard pass and make it into a 84 yard catch for a touchdown. This is perfect.

After all... Remember.... Ted's plan is to pad Aaron's stats because he is really not that good of a QB. Right?

I'd rather have McCluster than Spiller. Ole Dexter did serious damage in 3 phases against tougher opponents than Spiller faced. I wouldn't hate it if they took Spiller (well, I don't know how much I'd love it if they gave up a ton to trade up to get him), but McCluster's definitely my choice, if they're looking for a 3-phase, change of pace guy.

Agreed... so I elect stay home at 23 or move down.. and keep that 2nd or 3rd for McCluster.. one of my draft favorites this season.

We need more quality and depth at OT, S, and LOLB, and this draft could provide that. IMO I would take Grant and have these other positions covered than Spiller and nobody coming in at least two of these three positions.

This draft can provide depth at three or four positions now and provide players pushing hard for spots where we will need them after next year. This years draft is not just important for this year but could really set the stage for the next four or five years.
