But you're missing the funny part, they draft James and Williamson leaving us Aaron Rodgers. I can see why, having the great Dante Culpepper and all!

I think that's hilarious. I didn't know that. Vikings had two picks, two chances to have a solid QB for a decade or more. In their defense though, Daunte was coming off a 39 TD season, his career season. He was injured in the middle or so of the 2005 season, ultimately ending his reign as a above average to good QB.

Hey what about Carroll.....aaaaahhhhhhh (gets dragged to hell by shadow spirits for mentioning the name that shall not be mentioned)

Hey... why you giving the gnome any ideas... lol. ;)

Ha....I was hoping he would mention the name that shall not be mentioned and deal with the bad luck. Right now I have killed 3 chickens and spread their blood around to ward off the voodoo spirits for my transgression.

Dang you Dickey, I was holding Carroll in reserve. With 93z, one needs all the ammo available.

However I do like your thoughts on warding off the evil spirits. I shall remember that technique the next time that my daughter-in-law shows up at my home wearing that disgusting #85 Greg Jennings jersey.
Evil girl.

OK, back to Profiles of great moments in Packers draft history.....

1981 - Rich Campbell, QB - Packer #1 Draft pick, selected sixth overall
(taken before Ronnie Lott, Mike Singletary, Mark May)

Out of the University of California, Rich Campbell was a college All-American. Despite a knee injury that cut short his senior season, Campbell passed for 7,174 yards in his college career. It was a school record at the time and is still fourth-best in Cal history.

Selected as a can't-miss pick, Campbell was a major disappointment with the Packers. He appeared in only seven games over four years, completing 31 of 68 passes for 386 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, His career quarterback rating was a whopping 38.8. A religious-studies major in college, Campbell entered a seminary after leaving the Packers and became a Baptist minister.

Forrest Gregg thought Rich Campbell was going to be the Green Bay Packers' quarterback of the future. Campbell's utter failure certainly helped along Gregg's resignation three years later.

'89, '90, '91 and '92 the Vikings did their best work in the first round.

Another nice note.

Many years later, the Herschel Walker trade was still an easy target for satire: one ESPN columnist, assessing the impact of free agency on the NFL, noted that it had almost entirely replaced significant trades and by doing so, "took away one of the greatest shortcuts to becoming a Super Bowl champion: fleecing the Vikings."

Well it's about time your veteran team started winning some games. Should we try to forecast a couple years down the road when Rodgers is a perennial Pro Bowl quarterback and possibly a Super Bowl to go with it. You morons have one more shot this season, and then it is over. As lopsided as those two games were at times, in both, we still had a shot at the end to win. You won the division by one game but we were statistically even with you.

Viking arrogance = beating the Packers and claiming a championship. Bafoons, how can you root for that team?

Yeah Daunte had to read one defense all year: all coverage rolled to Mmoss. Heave it in the air and let Moss go get it. Daunte you cerebral assassin. Even funnier than drafting 2 players in front of Rodgers is the fact that they traded away the greatest receiver they every had for the Williamson pick. The more you think about, that trade/draft only pales in comparison to the Walker trade. And some in our fan base rip Uncle Ted. I hope Vikesrule didn't run away and cry.

Randy Moss trade didn't propell the Raiders/Vikings to any championship's.
Herschel Walker trade helped quite a bit with the Cowboys championship teams.

Huge difference there.

In all fairness, the Vikings were one missed field goal from the Super Bowl.

But my point was purely hindsight, of course: no one could have known then that the primary driver behind Culpepper's amazing season was not Culpepper himself but Moss. Moss has a knack for making decent quarterbacks (and that's what I consider Brady, definitely NOT elite) look amazing.
