Care to send best wishes or not? Hard for me to decide. How about you?
If 40-year-old Brett Favre returns for a 20th NFL season, it will be perfectly legitimate for teammates to call him "Grandpa" around the locker room.
Favre confirmed to ESPN that his daughter, Brittany, has given birth to a son. The Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder had reported late last month that Brittany, 21, was expecting.
It's unknown how many grandfathers have been on active NFL rosters before.
Favre hasn't given the Vikings a timetable for when he'll make a decision. He dropped by the spring practice of the Southern Miss. football team on Monday, and coach Larry Fedora said Favre gave no hints on whether he'd be playing again.
Update, 1:19 p.m. ET: Favre released the following statement about his grandson on his website:
"Deanna and I are very proud to welcome Parker Brett to the Favre family. Parker Brett was born on Friday, April 2, weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz and we're pleased to say that both Mom, Dad and Parker Brett are healthy and doing great."
I am a woman and I love football.
