"By all accounts, Gaither played like a quality starting left tackle last year. That's why it's surprising Baltimore seems so open to moving him."

I would be all for this, too bad the packers do not posses a high 2nd. Trade back and snag an extra pick + Gaither? I would be very happy with that.

Me too. Plus the dude's only 24. I wouldn't put it past Ted Thompson to surprise everyone with a move here. Ha ha, sorry about the link.

Honestly, i would mind seeing a move here with the #23 pick for Gaither either, proven starting quality Left Tackles do not grow on trees, he's a young guy so he should have some potential as well. Tho i do seem to remember CMIII making him look like a turnstyle.

Ozzie Newsome is one of the best GMs in the league.

The Ravens drafted Oher to man the LT spot while they already had Gaither.

Apparently, no one has contacted the Ravens about getting him for less than a 1st.

You have to think that there's something wrong. His play was worth a late 1st. He wasn't exactly great, but he's pretty good. There must be something going on.

I would like if Ted Thompson gave our 23rd in exchange for Gaither.

I was thinking the same thing, Having two good young tackles is a goldmine found in the trenches...

Maybe they have seen something in his play that leads Baltimore to believe that he can be figured out and beat?

Character issues?

Smells like crab?

Gotta be the crab, can't figure this one out at all. Even if we take a LT at 23, chances are he wont start this year and it's anyones guess if he will workout in the future. Atleast with Gaither you know what your getting with a guy thats been out there at this level and preformed.
Best case scenario i'd like to see us trade back into a top 10 second round pick and a third. Trade the best 2nd for gaither, then we have our LT spot solved, and 3 day 1 picks for the BPA at OLB S and DB.

Anyone think he could be asking rediculous money for his next contract or something?

May 2009 article

Gaither appears to be preparing on the business side to have a strong season as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. He recently hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent and could be looking for a long-term deal.

PFF offensive tackle rankings have him as the 3rd/4th (debatable) best left tackle in the NFL for the 2009 season. (as an example) link

Ya think Drew noticed?

+ I don't think they like Drew in Baltimore  <- link has more than that-read it!

I talked to [Gaithers agent] Drew Rosenhaus and he tells me hes getting Jared in shape. The last time I checked Drew Rosenhaus doesnt coach the offensive line in the National Football League.

He is at Baltimore's off-season workouts, btw

$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Flunked out of MD after attending prep school to get in. (something like that)

Huge--- ZBS?

?Work ethic? Questioned a lot about that.

Ran out of gas at his (pro day?) Also low reps in bench, like 11,12,13---I forget the exact number-- way back when, plus a 5th rd supplemental (GM's pride?)

Read tweets...seems dumber than dirt, imo..but I'm an asshole that way.

(Still want him for a 2nd, lol)

Very solid in 2008 also.

I echo that sediment Foster... it is about Benjamin's at this point.

Even with the CBA debate.. it doesn't change that teams have x amount of dollars for a budget.. and with financial drains like Rice, Flacco, Boldin, Suggs, Lewis, and Reed on the roster.. something has to give.. with Oher on the roster, not to mention 2 more established tackles and a bunch of combo guards.. it allows them some flexibility in this regard.

BTW... Foster.. welcome back.. 😉
