Has anyone picked up any local news or insider information on the health of Justin Harrell?

Any doctors reports on his back and hip are progressing?

There was a story that said he has actually looked good working out, but that nobody would really know anuthing until he got on the field and tried practicing.

I think it was a comment MM made in one of his presser, or it could have been from one of the beat writers. Sorry I don't remember where, but do remember reading.

Found it, from the MM speaks thread"
"On Justin Harrell: "Justin, this is the best hes looked in the strength and conditioning part of it. I dont think you can really evaluate him until he gets out there and puts the pads on and torques. D-line is different, but I know Mike Trgovac really liked what he saw last year in the spring. I know Dave Redding and Mark Lovat feel good about where he is in the weight room compared to this time last year, so hes made progress, but until he gets in there and you see him torque and play with leverage thats when the lower back will be tested."

^ ^ Damn it

McCarthy has said he's doing good.

"An update on DE Justin Harrell: "Justin, this is the best hes looked in the strength and conditioning part of it. I dont think you can really evaluate him until he gets out there and puts the pads on and

But then I believe we've heard this before. I would predict this is his last chance, if the back injury flairs up then it's likely something that will always occur and we'll be forced to move on. Regardless of how little his salary impact would be you've got to ask, will Justin be able to play in the NFL.

ya we heard this last year and went through the same JH threads then ... ya would be cool if he could be the fat man up front and let jolly (forgot where harrell would even play) get some rest.

would save us from having to get a DLman right away

He'll be in a battle with Ronald Talley for the #6 DL spot.

If Harrell can play (and based on the high praise he got at training camp), our D-line could be very good with plenty of rotation to keep guys fresh. I hope he can get through his injury at last as it's been a hell of a time for him.

I'm mixed on Harrell.

He clearly possesses the prototype body of a 3-4 DE. He's strong, or so we've been told. He was supposed to be a run stuffer - which is what you'd like from 3-4 DEs: the ability to hold up at the point.

Problem is, beyond his injuries, when he has actually seen the field he has been dreadful at stopping the run. Last time he saw the field, it was as a pass rushing DT... which was never his billed forte. Either the Packers were REALLY desperate, or Harrell was doing so poorly that the Packers felt he wasn't good enough at what he was supposed to do. Either way, it is a bit disturbing.

I'd love for Harrell to get in shape though, because we need some depth on the d-line. Add Jolly's situation... and we may find ourselves short on D-linemen really quickly.

Keeping Harrell won't hurt matters.

RELYING on him will, but last year proved we've moved on from expecting ANYTHING from him. Anything we get from him is a bonus.

It was a bust of a pick. It's unfortunate but the team is moving forward.
