I stumbled across these articles that I thought were pretty cool from Profootballfocus.com. It basically uses a formula that includes the number of tackles a player missed during the season.

Safeties

It says Nick Collins was middle of the pack with Ed Reed. Aaron Rouse missed 10 tackles with the Giants and was near the top of the list lol.

Corners

They don't have a full list so I don't know where Woodson was but Al Harris had the best rating with only 1 missed tackle all year.

Nice find.

I didn't expect Jim Leonhard to be that high on the list. He always looked like a solid tackler and cover man.

Nice find.

Personally I would like to audit the statistics of profootballfocus... some of there rankings seem to be grossly out of line.

BTW... That is how Jimmy went from a walk on at Wisconsin to the Pros... hard work and razor sharp fundamentals.. still pisses me off that we didn't sign him someplace along the line.

You have to be careful with statistics. If a slower guy can't get to the runner he has no missed tackler. The faster or more willing to hit guy gets there but only knocks the runner off balance so someone else gets the tackle, who has done the better job?
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?
