With Jennings being double covered all season and maybe that changing to driver this season. Im happy to have nelson there to be catching. I agree with him having a season that can define him and bring his name to everyones lips. Would like to see Mike McCarthy give him some routes to leave him open in the middle or along them lines.

I love to watch Nelson's Driveresque blocks downfield. I'd be willing to go so far as to say he's better than Driver at blocking at this stage of his career. It's almost like watching a defenseman on offense.

It's watching a complete football player. What a treat. :)

I've read about Nelson being favored by some Packers coaches because of his blocking ability.

I also never knew Jordy was that big.

I remember Nelson running down field blocking for someone (maybe Grant?) and absolutley pancaking someone near the goal line. He just ran him over, barely slowing down.

Why did Thompson draft a receiver any receiver when he already had Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and James Jones?

I'm sure in the back of TT's mind, he fears '05. That year was horrible - losing our #1, #3, #4 WRs, our #1 TE, our #1,#2, and #3 RB.

It's all about depth. And our O especially needs depth, as for as much as Mike McCarthy says he's shooting for a balanced O, we're a pass first team and he knows it. Most teams would be screwed if they lost just their #1 WR. We'd survive.

I agree. And whenever your receiver goes over the age of 30, you're going to have to look at a replacement.

Driver is 35 now. That he's still going as strong as he is, is absolutely amazing.

Had Driver taken the normal route of decline and called it quits a year ago and we hadn't addressed the WR position, we would've been stuck with Jennings - Jones - Swain as our top 3. Or if we had kept some of our guys from previous years we'd be coming out with Jennings - Jones - Martin. Or something along those lines.

Next to that, this is a passing league. Most teams have 2 good CBs. The drop-off after that is huge. We have 4 WRs who could start/play 3rd WR on a lot of teams. That gives you a huge advantage.

Even if picking a WR early in the 2nd while you already have 3 good ones might look like a luxury pick, I think that it's one of the best he could've made.

This is where picking the BPA pays off. Just like when he took Rodgers. If Ted Thompson had reached at the point of Jordy's pick we may well have another less than adequate O lineman. Most rookies are not going to be able to help you, and even less will have an impact. We were very lucky with CMlll. If Ted Thompson can do that again I'll be amazed.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Martha Careful (8h) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product

dfosterf (2-Jan) : Hats off to the Beast
dfosterf (2-Jan) : I'm at 71.76% in pick 'em. 2nd place. Beast is at a flat 75% 9 games ahead. That 75% has got to be unprecedented this late in the season
beast (2-Jan) : I don't care deeply, just want some good entertaining games
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : BTW, not serious.
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : You don't care about it either!!!!

Mucky Tundra (2-Jan) : outside of Texas-Arizona St, it's been a snoozefest
beast (2-Jan) : I expect Georgia will change that tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see. If they do, then only Big 10 and SEC are left.
