Yeah the Packers REALLY need to step up their OL now...

Bears- Peppers, Harris and Brown
Lions- Vanden Bosch, Corey Williams, Jackson and Avril
Vikings- Allen and the Williams Bros..

Suddenly LT (and the OL as a whole) just became that much more important

I'm just playing a little head game with myself, here - sadomasochism, I suppose.

Projected defensive lines 'round the NFCN in 2010:

Bears: Peppers (FA), Harris, Gilbert, Anderson/Brown

Lions: Vanden Bosch (FA), Suh or McCoy (draft), Williams (FA), Avril

Vikings: Allen, Williams, Williams, Edwards

Gah.

EDIT: D'oh! beast and I apparently had the same thought. Jinx! Buy me a left tackle.

I'm not sold on the Lions taking one of them yet... I think their wanting a LT more than anything and are looking for a trade back and LT...

or maybe a trade up from their 2nd and LT.

and I'm not buying anything  I'll wish for the Packers to get a good one...

Day one of the 2010 season... remember it is only day one.

We have time to shore up our oline... I was in a tizz last season on the dline and it turned out just fine.. actually the most solid part of the defense from start to end..

"IronMan" wrote:

Absolutely. I'm not saying the Packers are screwed at all. My thing is that at this, admittedly early, point of the off season it's pretty clear that the Bears and Lions are gearing up to go after Favre and Rodgers. I think this just makes the obvious need for improvement along the Packers' offensive line that much greater.

As i have stated before we will sign a few low profile free agents and by the time the season starts they will be cut from the team for some BS reason. Thats the Ted Thompson way and you guys aren't used to it yet?

"dhazer" wrote:

Chillar wasn't cut from the team and he was just given a new contract extension. Now do I think that cutting Smith was a smart thing to do, of course not. Just pointing this out.

I'm happy we don't generally get sucked into the overspending during free agency, but this year who really gives a crap if you overpay.

Usually the cap means that overpaying teams end up tight for space, but this is the year to spend big if you have bottomless pockets like Snyder etc.

As long as you structure the deal so that the contract is friendly for any future cap its really low risk spending.

The salary cap will be back. I think this is probably a one year thing until a new CBA can be agreed on. Teams that overspend now will pay the price later when they have to make tough decisions. To be fair, I think most teams get it. In the case of the Bears, they have no choice. If they don't win now, a lot of people will lose their jobs.

What I find very tough is to watch the other teams in our division make moves. I know some of them will not pan out, but it gets very tough to watch other people "hustle" when the PACK ATTACK seems to be sitting on the sideline!
