Wow. I hope, for their sake, that they're just trying to see what they can get in return for it.

I know that they have a lot of money tied up in 1st round picks, already, but they have a chance to get either McCoy or Suh here on that awful D-line. Both are difference makers. Both should propel your defense upwards and give you something to build around. Especially if they get a DE, as well.

Of course, they could fix some more holes they have if they trade back a bit, and I asume that the 2nd pick is in high demand with these DTs, so it might turn our great for the Lions in the long run....

I wonder if we should "frogleap" 20 some other teams to get up there... ;)

My vote would be, I want nothing to do with picks 1 about 10... the money involved verses the production difference gained from picks beyond that aren't worth it. IMO.

It would have to be a once in a decade type player.. and sorry I don't see that in this draft.. IMO.

It seems most teams try and get out of the top couple of spots every year, but no-one else bites, seeing as they don't want to be stuck with a $30m guaranteed rookie, either.

There's one scenario in which the Lions can rob the Buccaneers.

If the Rams decide to go with a DT, instead of a QB, the Lions can catch a lot for trading back just 1 pick. The Bucs are desperate for DT help. So are the Lions, tbh, but apparently, they're not that bothered.

This is all worth monitoring, imo.

The reason I find it somewhat fascinating is that I strongly suspect that Mayhew  and Schwartz are really quite competent, even though it hasn't really translated into wins--yet.



Mayhew might be doing "too good" in the draft pick department-It is possible I reckon,what with all the low picks they have received, and not just through incompetence on the field, either.

Mayhew's first move as acting General Manager was the trade of wide receiver Roy Williams and a 7th round draft choice to the Dallas Cowboys for Dallas' 1st, 3rd and 6th round draft choices in the 2009 NFL draft.



Schwartz scares me as an opposing coach, btw- I think he knows what the hell he is doing. All this wise FO shit in Detroit is starting to make me a little nervous. :thumbleft:
