The question isn't whether or not Porter can help. He can. It's whether or not he can accept a role the coaches assign for him?

I don't think he can play the run. I haven't seen enough of him this past season to say that, but I'll take the Miami coaching staff at their word. That seems to be the reason why he wanted out of Miami and they gladly released him. I have no doubt he'll improve the pass rush over Brad Jones, but can he live with being just a pass rusher only and coming out on running downs? That seems likely.

That's why I would have mixed feelings on this move. Then again, he could maybe embrace Green Bay because of Dom Capers, Charles Woodson and Aaron Rodgers. Who knows?

Character issues aside, I don't see how he could be a good fit.

Reason? We excelled at stopping the run the season past. A player who complained that he was only used on passing downs - there has to be a reason for that. I doubt Miami would ditch him on certain downs simply because they didn't like his face.

If he is a liability, therefore a downgrade, against the run then I don't see the point in adding personnel that improve one area of the team (Pass rush) at the expense of our run defence which is on the cusp of being an elite unit.

Porter would be a good 3rd down pass rusher, but he's already said he will only take a full time job.
