Our CB's obviously were all hurt this year and Tramon stepped up and (hopefully) eventually could be a #2 CB here. But long term we don't have a #1 which does make this a sticky situation.

It would really be tough to see where he fits in our roster if Al is back then we have 4 good/great CB's. So I would say it comes down to would you rather have Harris around here for 5 years(does he have 5 left) or Cromartie who will be here for many more years. And then the question is do you think he could aptly replace Harris as our number 2 guy for short term.

Honestly, I love Harris but Cromartie is 10 years younger. As much as I hate to say it, make the trade if it's reasonable.

He's a pretty good returner, as well.

But no, I wouldn't want us to trade for him. A ball hawking CB is great, as long as he won't lose his coverage. I'm always a little iffy when the ball gets throw his way. Does he make the spectacular interception, or does he totally miss the ball and give up a big play? He's an average corner who makes up for it by making spectacular plays.

And those spectacular plays have happened less and less often since his amazing 2006 season.

I think that we're far better off by developping some talent at that position, now we have the chance. We have 3 starting caliber corners, of which 1 is still borderline elite and the other is reigning NFL Defensive Player of The Year. This is not the time to make trades and squander away picks on half decent corners.

Where would you want him, anyway? We'd have to get rit of Al Harris or bump Tramon down to the nickel corner spot.

If there's anyone that we should trade for on that Chargers team, it's Shawn Merriman.

He's had a little lapse in production after being out for a year, but I think that he'll be back on top this year. They've also drafted English while having a very respectable OLB on the other side in Shaun Phillips.

It'd solve our problem of not having a legitimate rusher opposite of Matthews and, with his recent production, he might come at a decently low price. Maybe something low enough that we could regain that pick by trading away Kampman to a 4-3 team.

Now this is an insightful, brilliant, and thought provoking post, the kind of read that I hope for, in my five times a day click, that keeps me loging on here 5 times a day.

Good read Rock.

Thank you for that.

The rap on Cromartie (from Chargers fans) is that he doesn't even attempt to tackle at times. He's one of those corners who doesn't like to throw his body around. Watch the Shonn Greene TD run:

Woodson would have to teach this young man what it means to play professional football.

Man that was weak. He made NO effort to tackle him at the line of scrimmage, then he shoved him after he got in the end zone. I could never be a coach. If I saw one of my players do that he would be running laps until he puked his brains out. Un-freaking-acceptable.

He stopped, stuck his left arm out (half way) and made no effort at all. Why even be a CB in the NFL if you don't want to try and tackle a guy?

hes part of the notorious group of FSU mentally challenged they pushed through college to field a good team.

plus the above 2 videos speak for themselves 😛
