It has been a week since the loss.

I have had enough time to reflect on it with out allowing my emotions to effect any comment I might have made Last Monday. In other words, I followed the 24 hour rule times six.

After watching the Cards play today... I have come to a conclusion that the Packers were out coached last week in Arizona.

I think Mike made a mistake in the week between the two back to back games.

LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR: I think Mike is a very good coach. I am happy with what he has accomplished, I think the 6-10 season was a direct result of the Brett Favre Fiasco, and all of the turmoil that came with it.

I just think Mike and Capers who Mike over-sees made a mistake, as we all do in life. I think it was a learning experience for him.

Four times during the game today (Which The Cards Were Killed) I kept hearing that Warner had said: "He did not see anything he did not expect when he came under center against the Packers last week."

"I knew exactly what they were going to do."

This was double hard on me, as it was the exact same thing Tampa Bay said about the Raiders when Tampa Bay beat them in the Super Bowl. The year after Gruden left the Raiders to go to Tampa Bay.

I do not think the Packers lost last week... I think they lost last weeks game the week before in the final game of the season. I think they showed them too much, or did not do enough to change things up from week 15 and 16 depending on what film Warner was studying

I am confident the Packers are going to be an elite team next year. 14-2 13 -3 I expect that. I see five years ahead of this team that will include two Super Bowls at least.

But I also think , they could have won the Super Bowl this year if they would have won last week. I think that would have started the ball rolling.. and the players would have been on a roll.

But a mistake was made.

A mistake that will be learned from.

I agree RP.
I think had we taken care of business last week, we would have had a chance.
But man......poor Warner got KILLED. I can't help but wonder if AR would have had his head taken off by the Saints D.

Rodgers would have matched up better against the Saints than did Warner.
He is more mobile. Then again......Warner has been there before. Hmmm. Tough call.

It's hard to say how Rodgers would have done. I think the Saints probably would have torn up our D, so what Rodgers would or wouldn't have done may be a moot point, a la last week.

Like I said last week, I don't really think we got out coached in the game last week. McCarthy's play calling was pretty good, and he took some chances that he normally wouldn't and most of them paid off. I think what happened was their strategy over the whole two week period was thought out better than ours. Not showing us anything in week 17, and working on exploiting basically one spot in the secondary over and over.

Absolutely RP. Before the game I didn't put much stock into gameplanning, but it appears it really is an important facet of the game.

It was telling to hear Nick Collins say that they ran basically the same gameplan as week 17, and then for Capers to say that Plans A, B and C weren't working.

It's disappointing, but I'm putting it more on Capers than McCarthy. That pseudo-sleep also doesn't sit right with me.

Weird thing is the week prior, Mike McCarthy had stated they had done enough gameplanning to play both games without overlap. Yet Warner said he knew exactly what they were going to do. I wonder if those statements can be reconciled, or if it was simply bombast on the part of one or the other or both.

McCarthy calls the offensive plays. Rodgers was able to score 45 against them. Yes, probably on offense we did things they didn't see before (I think Dockett might have mentioned that). But defense is another story.

i think today's saints/cards match-up just proved what many of us suspected after last week's game - if we would have blitzed more and gotten real pressure on warner he wouldn't have been able to tear us apart so easily. I really wish i could find the source but i remember reading somewhere that capers blitzed somewhere in the area of 5% of the time.

You don't go into back to back weeks with the exact same gameplan. You need to make adjustments and the Packers didn't. I also think, looking at week 17, Green Bay should of known that Arizona was going to play "vanilla". The moment Kurt Warner came out of the game is the moment the Packers should of just called that game like a preseason game.

beast (13h) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (13h) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
