I have steered away from football the last few days but after treating my bruised foot and broken tv I watched some games and learned somethin in the process.

WE SUCKED VS. Midline/ pocket/quick hitch passers
Farve x 2
Rothlesburger (can scramble but did most damage from midline)
Warner
Palmer (most was from running game)
Our center of our defense was exposed most of the season. Safeties who were a step late. CB's that violated zone principles
Our middle is the weakest area and one that was picked on by qbs that understood how we operated. With the large emphasis on stopping the run we often broke down in coverage.

While. Barnett Chillar and Hawk played ok we need. To address the midfield this offseason. Including picking up and getting younger at CB
I am therefor I think.

Or LBers play to shallow because of run support or at least have not mastered the drop back and Bigby is a injury nightmare waiting to happen.

We have youth at the CB position. Williams, Blackmon, Lee, Ford, Bell and Underwood. Not to mention The old man Bush. What we need more than CB is SS type and pass coverage LB. Our guys are side to side, not drop back.

Hopefully another year of the 3-4 will help the DBs and LBs get their heads around zone defense.

We need better depth at Safety, on Sunday we had Giordano on the field and after him on the roster its Derrick Martin. I like Bigby but I'd rather have him as our primary backup instead of starter. Good safety group in this year's draft class.

Locking Chillar up long term means we at least have our best coverage linebacker in place, but another OLBer who can drop into coverage would probably help.

If our LBs can ever master covering the middle. Hawk and Barnett both don't seem to be guys who can, or they have to make leaps and bounds in one single off-season. You'd say that they would've plugged in Chillar against the Cardinals, but they didn't. That makes you wonder if Chillar is a real man to man guy and if he can actually play zone.

My guess is that we might even draft an ILB. Someone who isn't as dominant against the run but can play between the LBs and the safeties. A Derrick Brooks, tampa 2 kind of guy, but just without the run stopping abilities. They should come rather cheap in the draft.

And I'd love a safety. Bigby is constantly getting injured and just doesn't seem to have the coverage skills or speed. He's a nice 8th man in the box and makes a nice interception or big hit from time to time, but he's not someone I want roaming around in the backfield, not giving up a big play.

I agree that Chillar along with the rest of our D had a poor game on Sunday.

But that doesn't erase his body of work. Despite being injured this year he has frequently been used to cover TEs both this year and last year, and plays as a glorified safety in the Big Okie.

The Packers were also happy enough with his play to give him an extension this year.

He might not be the answer to our pass D problems but I expect he'll be used as part of the solution.

How about we try getting everyone back for another year, I personally am tired of being the youngest team in the NFL, and am tired of relying on rookies or middle of the road free agents to hopefully fill gaps.

Packers were hit hard at safety this year injury wise, this is the one position that should be looked at closely.

Kampman is going to be an interesting watch, see what happens, IMHO Packers are better off with him than wothout him, that is a decision Ted is going to have to make.

LB'rs are all solid and will only get better, now having a year of experience behind them, no reason to worry about the position.

Rb's, if Green comes back one more year, is solid.
Wr's solid.
Miiddle of the O-line, will only get better with guys coming back from injury.
I sure hope Clifton and Tauscher are back for one more year, Packers need that experience if for only to let the show the young guys how it is done.
Corners are solid, hopefully Al comes back like he said he would.

D-line, need to sign Pickett, dump Harrel, draft another big run-stopper.
The rest is a solid bunch of young guys with anothere year of experience.

You are what your record says you are. I don't care who we played, Packers were 11-6. Other than Tampa, Packers lost to veteran play-off teams.

I am hoping Ted sees this and realizes The Packers can be one of those veteran play-off teams the next few years with the guys that are here.
Adding a solid safety through Fa or by trade would be nice, if there is one available.
I am hoping next years rookies will be watching from the sidelines, learning the game in practice, getting ready in case they are needed in an emergency.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

I think Ted used Chillar as a pawn. With 2010 being uncapped. Any team that makes the divisional round of the playoff has extra restrictions in signing FA without a cap. So by extending Chillar as we did, we created a much higher salary for Chillar, and a player that could be sacrificed incase we made it that far.

Since we didn't, and the biggest portion of that contract was payed on 09' there is not much left to keep from cutting him if need be.
