Not so sure if there's an "ILB" guy that could fall to us, and not be a reach. Rolando McClain will be taken somewhere from 10-20, and the next best ILB guy would be... probably Brandon Spikes, a late 1st-early 2nd prospect. Just gotta hope we can get our hands on Charles Brown, Bryan Bulaga or Joseph Barksdale. All look like solid LT guys, who could probably start from day 1.

I'd love Okung or Berry. Problem is, for both you'd have to make a huge trade upwards.

We'd most likely have to get to pick 3-5. We'd need to give up something like our 1st, our 2nd our 4th and our 1st next year. That's a hefty price to pay for whatever player.

You will get something, though. Berry is the BPA available on a lot of boards and gets compared with Ed Reed a lot. He takes some weak angles and isn't that strong just yet, but there aren't a lot of negatives on the kid apart from those. For someone who plays the pass like he does, he's quite a tackler, as well.

If there's anyone worth trading up for, it's him.

Personally, I think that we should just stick with the pick we have in the 1st round, if either Charles Brown, Bryan Bulaga and/or Jerry Hughes is still on the board. Maybe jump up a spot or two if just one of those guys is left.

I don't think I'd hate Bulaga - Brown is a bit of a reach, maybe. I've seen a few mocks that have Mays falling past the Packers' pick; I think he's gotten an unfair grade thus far this year, as the rest of the USC defense this year was down overall. I see him as a bigger Nick Collins, if reports of his speed are to be believed, so IMO he'd be a really useful addition to the D. The knocks on him are all things that a good coach like Perry can teach out of him, and with that size and speed (plus a definite taste for nasty hits) he could be an answer to the issues they had in the middle of the field. Of course, if he plays well in the Senior Bowl and his combine numbers bear the myths out, I can't imagine he'll make it out of the top 15 - but if he's there when they pick, he's my guy.

A lot of mocks I've seen have us going with Gabe Carimi  later on - in one case that's in addition to Bulaga in the first. I like him - not as a LT, but on the right side - he and Sitton could grade out the right side of the field nicely, I think, and that would allow them to move Lang to LT, or if they come up with a better solution @ LT, they could finally kick Colledge to the curb and put Lang @ LG.

So assuming the (wildly unrealistic, IMO) Bulaga/Carimi draft occurred, you could see: Bulaga(Cliffy), Lang, Wells/Spitz, Sitton, Carimi(Tausch). Not sure if Cliffy would take a pay cut to stay around and help with the transition, but I bet Tausch would. Either way, you have to think they could run the ball with a line like that.

Sorry, that was all over the place - if Mays somehow falls, I think he's got to be the combo of BPA and need in the first. Otherwise, I agree with the Bulaga pick. I'd love to see Carimi picked later on, regardless of what the first round pick is.

He might even be good enough to step in halfway through the season.

I don't know if I'd like two OTs in the first two rounds. I feel that we would be wasting a lot of talent on the bench, since we can't have Rookie, Rookie, Lang, Spitz, Sitton and Wells play at the same time. Next to that, we'd be ignoring our need for an OLB in the first two rounds, while there is some nice depth in the late first and second at that position.

Hughes - Carimi is my dream scenario for the first two rounds.

Bulaga/Brown - Kindle/Miller/Norwood would be a very good second.

Although it's very unlikely that this kid will drop that far, I liked this mock draft pick.

56 - Green Bay Packers: Sean Lee, ILB, Penn State

The Packers couldn't contain the Cardinals partially because their inside linebackers can't cover over the middle. Sean Lee might change that.

This kid has been all over the board, but he appears to be getting some more attention as of late. I don't know if he'll drop all the way to us, but it would be a very interesting pick.

Good calls, definitely. Since I'm going to dream, I'd adjust your dream scenario to Mays - Carimi for the first two rounds. I know he won't be there, but I'm not yet ready to quit dreaming of our D with two top-flight safeties on the field.

The one position the Packers would want to trade up is CB.

They need to have someone ready when Al Harris finally slows down or becomes unreliable (as in missing significant time to injury in consecutive years).

Unfortunately this is a year where there are not many high quality CB's.

They are more likely to draft a mid round "developmental guy that will take 2-3 years to get ready.

There are so many positions that need someone to be drafted, I think CB should be addressed in the second or not at all. We have enough projects, need a future starter.
