Here is the official rule for roughing the passer when regarding the blow to the head. From the 2006 NFL rule book. Though this would be good info for people

In covering the passer position, Referees will be particularly alert to fouls in which defendersimpermissibly use the helmet and/or facemask to hit the passer, or use hands, arms, or other parts of the body to hit the passer in the head, neck, or face

I don't want to read through all this but I thought the rule was if you twist the facemask, its 15. Wasn't that hte point of the 2008 rule change? That if you twist in anyway, then 15 yards, otherwise nothing.

I could be wrong but thats waht I thought and someone mentioned to me that is what the NFL responded with today, couldn't find a link though.

Your in the minority hardrocker950. Most of the complaining about the refs is based on bitterness about losing the game. Even though I think both sides benefited from questionable calls, am I the only one that though Jennings was touched on his knee on that play where he ran for another 10-15 yards?

I think many are really missing the point of why so many are angry over the no-call on the facemask. Of course I am disappointed that they lost over a questionable play in OT, but what about PROTECTING THE QB? Point is, wether or not that call could have changed the outcome is not the main reason I am angry - My problem is the potential injury that could have occurred AND THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!! The NFL made a huge deal about head injuries, and the refs dont follow through! I think action should be taken! Also I have read people arguing that he never "twisted" his facemask which doesn't matter - IT'S STILL DANGEROUS!

I cannot see any football fan arguing with that point, as even playing rival teams we don't hope for injuries - we just want to see our team play some good football! If this crap keeps happening, I think I will quit watching NFL games! :ramboface:

It seems it only matters if you are some "big name" QB. Otherwise the refs don't care.
Thats how i see it, at least.
If i was in the Packer MGMT, i'd be sending clips to the NFL and demanding HOW that can't be considered a penalty.
Or Woodson getting run over on the one TD pass. How was that NOT offensive pass interference??? And the ref was RIGHT THERE watching the whole play.
I don't understand that at all.

Anyone have the 1st Qtr of the Pittsburgh game on tape. There was two really hard hits to Rodgers head in that qtr also never called.

With the sacks and hits to the head and elsewhere he has taken. I have to say, Rodgers is one tough SOB. Maybe that is the water in GB.
