Let's hope that he won't sign some poison pill contract with another team, although I doubt that any team would want Colledge that bad.

I'd like to get Pickett resigned. He's been horribly underrated and flying under the radar for pretty much his entire career. I'm afraid that he made some people notice his play this year, though. He's good, even at 30. This is a guy that might even play for another 5 years. His play hasn't declined one bit since being a first round pick in 2001. On the contrary, it's only gotten better.

I agree that there will most certainly be teams that have taken notice of Pickett. However, the Packers have something that most teams don't; this year's #1 rush defense and the expectation that next year's crew has the ability to be the #1 defense overall. That's worth something!

Honestly, my priorities are Pickett (need good D-Linemane bad, heck everyone does), Collins (Safeties are not that important but hes just so good), and then resign Tausch........that's it. Colledge just hasn't done enough for me. I would spend big money on a free agent left tackle...like crazy money.

Pickett has done a great job, and I hope the Packers can keep him, but I don't think they should break the bank for him. With Raji, we already have a high-dollar guy who plays nose tackle. Pickett plays limited snaps because he is purely a run stuffer. Raji is more versatile. And there is only so much money to go around.

I think Collins is the highest priority. We've had more than our share of bad safety play in Green Bay over the past ten years or so, and we cannot afford to let a good one get away just as he's coming into his prime.

I was surprised by the harsh words from Colledge. I've always thought he was a below average left guard. He's hung in there, though, and for the sake of continuity, it might be good to sign him long-term at a reasonable price.

As for Lynn_Dickey's comment about left tackle, it is unlikely that a good one will be available in free agency. That position is like QB in that way. When a team has a good one, they lock him up.

Just some off-the-cuff thoughts on this:

Collins is going to be absolutely top dollar. What good does it do to sign him sooner, rather than later? Let him stay hungry at least until our playoff run is done. If we are going to be paying the 2010 version of Troy P. money anyway, I don't see why we need to rush. There is no discount to be had by signing him early, and btw, when is Troy P's contract up---???? :thumbleft: I strongly have and still suspect serious 'tude trouble with him (Collins) and his agent. That whole deal with his family difficulties morphing to contract concerns this year left a bad taste in my mouth. He can wait. GD pro-bowl.

Pickett --- Re-sign if reasonable, (or semi-unreasonable) no harm in trying to do so now. Premium position, and while I really like his play, I'd probably say that I over-rate him, if anything. He is not a top-dollar NT, but I don't anticipate him trying to be one.

Colledge.....

This player has been inconsistent throughout his career. He has cost us games, I'd go so far as to say he has been EXTREMELY expensive in that sense, and I would like to see an upgrade at his (and other o-linemen) position. I'd like to keep him, but I'm not going to breathe as hard as many will if we do not.

We can sign all of them that we want to. Ticket and beer prices might go up, but they are all signable.
