I don't think spreading thin has anything to do with game time really. Where I can see effect is the rest of the week. I don't know McCarthy's weekly routine, so I am not claiming he is stretched to thin, just that is where I see the problem showing his ugly head.

When a head coach takes on play calling duties in my opinion it neutralizes the responsibilities of the coordinator. I see this team as having two coaches, Capers and McCarthy with McCarthy given responsibility of time management and decision making for 4th downs, timeouts, and challenges.
