Zero - Pro Bowl is for '09, not career.

This year, I'd take Grant. Turnovers not only kill drives, but sometimes kill games. Ask AP about Monday night.

Grant doesn't turn the ball over, he's got more yards and more TDs.

I only give a damn about the pro bowl when I think it will not cost money.

My semi-annual rant, as explained by a far better source, on his annual rant, lol

NFP- Brandt- Pro Bowl Bonuses, etc.

a small excerpt:

The other issue with the Pro Bowl selection involves future or even existing contracts. Once a player makes a Pro Bowl, the agent is now armed with a badge of honor that will have significant bargaining muscle behind it. An agent can now compare his player to other players with Pro Bowl on their resumes, and these are usually players who have been rewarded by previously using the same flawed logic.

Heh. Don't take it personal, amigo. I'm just stating facts.

You know my style. I rely on stats and facts for my argument. If anything, I'm very dry. I'm not trying to snide you.

In defense of Grant, as I said in another comment in this thread, he was a good receiver under Favre. Aaron's style is different though. He throws more up field and would rather hit a WR deeper than a RB underneath. That's just Aaron's style vs Brett's.

So naturally, Grant's receiving stats will plummet. This is what I said:

Tengo - Yeah, that's a strike against Grant. But is it because we swapped QBs? Favre hits his TEs and RBs more and Rodgers hits his WRs more. Grant had 30 receptions under Favre when remember, he only started in week 6. In '08, he had 18 and this year he has 25.

lol I posted facts!!!

I hope that trend dissipates as dumping off to a RB is very good to do with a bad OL especially.

I can't get excited about the pro bowl. In fact, I'm done capitalizing it.

If and when they make the decisions *after* the season, then I'll give its capital letters back.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I hope so too. I've been screaming at MM to call more screens (to compensate for our crappy OL), but he doesn't hear me through the bar's TV screen. I don't know why. 😞

You know, there's some players that will make the probowl no matter what they do during the season. Even if Peyton Manning has an average to below par season (which I doubt will happen), I'm sure that he will make the pro bowl even if there is someone more deserving. I'm just using Peyton as an example.

What made me realize this was Jason Witten. He hasn't had that great of a year. Sure, he has near 1,000 yards, but he only has one TD. This makes it almost impossible for other TE's in the NFC to make the probowl. Hell, Visanthe Shiancoe could have made it this year. He has 10 TDs and about 500 yards.

I'm not saying that Witten isn't deserving this year.

My point is that people know who the great players are. They are going to vote for them no matter what. I see Vernon Davis and Jason Witten making the probowl for years to come, just because of who they are. Hopefully Jermichael Finley will begin to make himself a case as one of the best TE's in this league. I think you guys know what I'm trying to get at. It's a hard point to prove.

Another example is Deangelo Williams over Ryan Grant. Grant had the better year statistically, but he isn't as well-known as Williams, therefore Deangelo gets the nod.
