You know, there's some players that will make the probowl no matter what they do during the season. Even if Peyton Manning has an average to below par season (which I doubt will happen), I'm sure that he will make the pro bowl even if there is someone more deserving. I'm just using Peyton as an example.
What made me realize this was Jason Witten. He hasn't had that great of a year. Sure, he has near 1,000 yards, but he only has one TD. This makes it almost impossible for other TE's in the NFC to make the probowl. Hell, Visanthe Shiancoe could have made it this year. He has 10 TDs and about 500 yards.
I'm not saying that Witten isn't deserving this year.
My point is that people know who the great players are. They are going to vote for them no matter what. I see Vernon Davis and Jason Witten making the probowl for years to come, just because of who they are. Hopefully Jermichael Finley will begin to make himself a case as one of the best TE's in this league. I think you guys know what I'm trying to get at. It's a hard point to prove.
Another example is Deangelo Williams over Ryan Grant. Grant had the better year statistically, but he isn't as well-known as Williams, therefore Deangelo gets the nod.
