I found this part of the article pretty interesting and true. I guess most of my favorite players in all sports have had this same quality.

So is this all just ... familiarity? Maybe. But I think there's something more at play here ... and it's something I really noticed listening to him Wednesday on this miserably cold and snowy day in Minnesota. Brett Favre manages -- probably better than anyone in sports, and anyone in memory -- to make everyone around feel like they are part of the game. He has a knack for making fans feel like they are thisclose to the field.

Pro football is not framed like that. No, football players and coaches make it clear all the time that they don't think like us. They think on a higher plane. They have watched all the films. They have studied all the scenarios. They have deep secrets and coded plans and fascinating bits of information that they cannot share with YOU because YOU would not understand or YOU do not need to know or YOU would only tell the opponent or YOU are not in the inner circle.

I read the rest of the article now. It's exactly why I love brett favre. His up front and honesty when talking about football. No sugar coated bull shit answers.

His approach to not taking those dumpoffs at the end of a game you're losing just because "it's what the defense gives you". His being open and honest about his interceptions in the Arizona game. I kind of already knew it, he's pressing, trying to make a play, got caught up. Seen it many times before. But who the hell else would admit it or put it that way.

That's how it seems on the field too. His touchdown passes seem more remarkable. His interceptions seem more catastrophic. His celebrations seem more euphoric. His losses seem more painful.

So true

True....he did make it fun to watch. And sometimes painful with the "bad Brett" plays.
But never was dull!

Yeah, I don't get how anybody could consider him honest anymore. Unless he is telling the media about the Jet's leaving him off the injury report.

Good one.

I still love Brett, but why can't I be mad at the guy that didn't want to play in GB anymore, the guy that couldn't wait to join our division rival? I'm extremely upset that he had to try and drive a wedge between the fans and the organization by using his popularity to aid deceipt.

When this is all over, I think Brett is going to have some regrets. When the Vikings are eliminated in the playoffs, I won't even care anymore.

I haven't torched any of my Brett stuff yet, in fact, I'm wrapping up my jerseys to pass on to my spoiled blonde girls for Christmas.
