As a drought veteran, I know how to look at these various scenarios.

Call me an expert. (hell, call me whatever you want, just not late for supper)

The expertise is arrived at from having your heart broken every way that is possible, and at times seeming like ways that are not possible... the failures of the Pack only exceeded by the failures of some shit-box team that you needed to help you unscrew the mess your Pack put you into in the first friggin' place.

You assume we will lose Monday night, and base your calculations and desires accordingly.

You want the "Well, at least we didn't lose any ground/Well, at least we are still in position to be in the x position wild-card spot" option available to you at the immediate conclusion of the game.

Or Tuesday will suck even worse than it already does (in that scenario)

Cheer for Giants to beat the Cowboys and Eagles to beat the Falcons this week.

The Packers want the Cowboys to be a wild card since the Packers have the head to head tiebreaker.

Assuming a Packer win of course:

1) If the Giants beat the Cowboys and Eagles beat the Falcons, the Eagles then lead the East. The Packers move ahead of the Cowboys for #1 wild card and the Cowboys are #2 wild card behind the Packers. It is also a kiss of death for Atlanta's playoff chances. The Packers and Cowboys are a game ahead of the Giants but the Giants have a sweep of the Cowboys. This may be the best scenario long term.

2) If the Cowboys win and the Eagles win the Packers are more firmly entrenched at #2 Wild Card because the Giants and Falcons behind them are further behind. This is the safest scenario but the Packers are only destined for #2 wild card. It gives them more room to lose.

3) If the Cowboys win and the Falcons win, the Packers become the #1 seed but they are still in a tight battle with the Eagles and Falcons.

4) A Giants win against the Cowboys and a Falcons win over the Eagles puts the Packers in the #1 Wild Card but the teams behind are much closer to them. This is almost the worst case scenario.

The worst thing is a Packer loss.

The Giants and Eagles will have a show down next week.

So cheer for the Cardinals to beat the vikings, Giants to beat the Cowboys and Eagles to beat the Falcons.

You talk about us being more entrenched in the #2 wild card spot as if Philadelphia has that tie breaker with us locked up. They don't. Our hardest remaining games are against AFC teams, theirs are against NFC teams. That tiebreaker could easily swing in our favor. And unlike head-to-head, conference record tiebreakers stand regardless of how many teams are tied for one spot.

Furthermore, who cares what wild card spot we have? All you have to do is get in. I want the Giants and Falcons to lose taking them to 6 loses on the year. The Giants still have a tough schedule after and Atlanta still has to play New Orleans. If they both lose today it is very hard to see either having any less than 7 losses. That would be massive for us and give us a nice cushion heading into our difficult home stretch.

What I'm rooting for:

Packers.
P Manning: many interceptions.
D Brees: many interceptions.
B Favre: many TD passes
Cardinals (because I can't bring myself to root for the Vikings any more than I can applaud "playing not to lose" in my coach's play selection)
Ties in every other game (either because I can't decide, don't care, or both).
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Yes.

Except your Packers dug a little hole. Now not only they must dig themselves out of it, but they'll most likely need help from other teams. So, root for the teams that'll help your Packers get in. (Kinda like the Cards beating the Vikes in '03.. Yes, you needed help that year.)

Not to mention, it'll give you something to cheer for this Sunday. I know how long Sundays are when your favorite team isn't playing, so it's not a bad thing to have some sort of emotional interest in another teams loss.

=) <===That means I'm just pointing something out, not arguing with your statement.

dfosterf (4h) : Kenny played through it, and a shame he gets little credit for that, imo
dfosterf (4h) : Big men. I hope it's not the undoing of Kenny Clark
dfosterf (4h) : Probably his toe. Pretty much a great center. Toe injuries are brutal to bigen
Mucky Tundra (10h) : Lions All-Pro C Frank Ragnow retires
wpr (30-May) : It's all good.
beast (30-May) : Yeah, and I enjoyed your comments and just attempted to add to it. Sorry if I did it incorrectly.

Zero2Cool (29-May) : What did you do??
Zero2Cool (29-May) : Whoa
beast (29-May) : OMG the website is now all white, even some white on white text
beast (29-May) : Henderson, who admits to taking cocaine during the Super Bowl against the Steelers, might dislike Bradshaw as he lost two Superbowls to him
wpr (28-May) : Hollywood Henderson said Bradshaw ā€œis so dumb, he couldn't spell 'cat' if you spotted him the C and an A.ā€
Mucky Tundra (28-May) : Cooper stock=BUY BUY BUY
Mucky Tundra (28-May) : Also notes he’s playing with more confidence.

Zero2Cool (19-May) : he giving up his win business?
