What was his big problem with the Chargers anyway?

Mentioned this in my first post, as well, btw.

Anyway, there's an article on that from 2004 . It's from a San Diego site, so it might be a little biased and not completely true, but it's better than nothing.

....Apparently, the senior Manning did not like what he heard. League sources had been saying for days that the Manning camp had reservations about playing for the Chargers because of concerns about the organization's inability to win.

The Chargers have had only four winning seasons in the last 20 years, including none since 1995, and the perception is that members of the front office and coaching staff could be lame ducks if the team doesn't show significant improvement after finishing 4-12 last season.....

...Not to be overlooked is the potential for Eli Manning to make significantly more money in endorsements in New York. The Giants, who have the fourth pick overall, inquired about trading for the top pick earlier this month and, according to sources, will forward a compensation package for Smith's review tomorrow....

Elway, like me and Zero mentioned as well, refused to play for the Colts, as well. But he had some leverage. He didn't think the Colts where going to be a succesfull team (and how right he was) so he didn't want to go there. If they didn't trade him, he would've gone back to the MLB, since he already played two years in the minors.

Wait, now we're talking about money? The Eli Manning reference is close to what we're talking about. A QB that doesn't want to go to one location and demands to be elsewhere. Someone said it's never happened or maybe it would never happen. But it has, John Elway and Eli Manning demanded to not play for the team who drafted them.

Yea but I actually thought the point of the thread was what if a QB demanded to go to a team where he could sit and learn behind a veteran QB.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
