This is not sports related once so ever, but I'm excited and I want to share this with you all. :)
I told my daughter Keiana that this summer my goal was to get her to ride her bike without training wheels. She was really ... not thrilled about the idea at all. Shes really scared to do new things. Maybe that's normal for a six year old though.
Today after work I had her get her bike and we went to a open parking lot to practice. She got tired after a little while with her training wheels on and I said we would come back again practice some more when we were finished with dinner.
When we finished dinner, she (now this is out of the ordinary for her) actually told me she
wanted to practice riding her bike again! Its always been me getting her on the bike, but not this time. So we went over to the parking lot again and after a few minutes she told me Daddy I want these training wheels off, its too hard to steer with them and they make me fall over. I was shocked as heck! So I asked if she just wanted me to turn them up a little. She said No! daddy lets just throw them away, I dont want them anymore.
We went home and took them off and went back to the parking lot. She had a little trouble starting out but I would hold her seat to get her going a little and she was off. I ran next to her and helped her from time to time but overall she was doing it on her own. It was amazing. My little girl rode her bike without training wheels for the first time! And it was on my Grandma's and one of my best friends birthday, I thought that was pretty cool. She rode all the way back home with me running next to her and I only had my hand on her neck a little bit. It's awesome, I'm so proud of her! full article.
