I am still fuming about the playcalling when we got the ball back on the 1. Everyone in the stadium and every person in the TV audience knew exactly what McCarthy was going to call, so I guarantee the Lions defensive staff knew too.

I will admit the playcalling in the first half was pretty damn good. I would really like to see a balanced game, though. We rack up lots of yards in the first half, then climb into our shells and try to ride out the storm. I don't get it.

It looked like an inside run, one you call to get some breathing room around your own end zone, but our O-line, once again, couldn't generate any kind of push. They got overpowered by the Lions D-line and LBs.

One thing I wouldn't have minded was giving the ball off to Quinn Johnson there. Just see and try if he can bruise it up the middle for 2 yards, with John Kuhn having just one hand available.

can we give woodson the defensive MVP already. this guy is amazing.

Just what I was thinking. Holy crap, what a game. He just repeated his amazing performance from last sunday... and that's a game most corners won't have in a career. Or any player for that matter.

No offense to Donald Driver, but I seriously believe that he should've gotten that Turkey award.

You wouldn't trust passing with our offensive line? Dude, Rodgers threw for almost 250 yards in the first half.

I know, dude, but he got hit quite hard in the back because Chad never got out of his stance, as well, and whenever a defense brings more than 4, it appears to totally confuse our offensive line.

I can garantuee you that the Lions where sending more than 4 in whichever formation we came out. And i've seen Rodgers on his back in the end-zone too often already. Still have nightmares about that mulletman.

So either way the end result is a safety, but at least the pass gives us half a chance of getting beyond the 10 yard line.

On the other hand, I do acknowledge that keeping Rodgers on his feet is a positive. It's a dilemma.

There were 9 guys in the box. Granted they didn't have a lot of time but a quick slant with the speed of the receivers would have been huge.

Rodgers wouldn't have had to take a 3 step drop. Take the snap, turn and fake the handoff and then hit Jennings over the middle. 60 yards!

There was one play earlier in the game in which Rodgers tossed it to Drivers behind the line, while we had a WR (I couldn't catch the jersey number) streaking down the field wide open. If he had hit that receiver, it would have been a huge game, perhaps a touchdown. Instead it was a three and out. But Driver gave it his best effort. He was freaking amazing today.

I minded that call and I'll tell you why. I watched the Lions' CBs. One of them played the line, one of them cushioned.

Call a run fake and immediately get it to the WR with the cushioning. I forgot if it was Driver or Jennings, but either one of them will get us 4 to 5 yards.

MM's playcalling yesterday was on the most part good except for that series. They had 9 men in the box.

Isn't it up to the QB to audible at that point, though?

If you come out in a formation, expecting something, and then the QB sees that one CB is playing the line and the other is giving quite a cushion, shouldn't the QB make an audible into a PA or a quick slant at that point?

I think that there's two things here.

1. Rodgers can't permit to audible the play there and give up another safety. That'll reflect horribly on him and he'd been called an idiot for changing the play while being 0.5 yards out of our own end zone. Especially since he knows how our O-line has been playing.

2. You can't call one of those quick hit passes as we did the entire game when their CBs gave our WRs a cushion. In that case, you're nearly throwing a lateral, which means that your WR is still in the end-zone. That play almost just as often results in no gain as it does in a gain of 4-8. It's all about making that first man miss. That'd be one hell of a risky throw.

I guess that he could've audibled to a slant there, but I'm still not putting it on McCarthy. I asume they came out with an option there. Just look at Jennings. He runs an in/slant. That would've been an easy completion. Rodgers should've audibled out of that one and hit Jennings quickly there in hindsight.

If I have to put this one on Rodgers, not McCarthy.

Rock - I watched it again. CB James of the Lions was on the 7 yard line and it was Gregorious as the lone WR. 9 men in the box. It was obvious we'd run.

OK, then blame Rodgers for not changing the play. Still, I blame them both. Stupid call.

Throw it quickly to Gregorious. Gregorious is one on one with James and leaping forward should get us at the least one yard, getting it to the 2. More realistically, he gets us 4 yards, getting it out to the 5.

Grant on the other hand, not knocking him, but they had 9 in the box. 11 Packers minus Gregorious and minus Rodgers and you got 9 on 9. Pretty ugly situation to be in. I had a bad feeling before the ball was hiked that it would be a safety. I knew we'd run and you already know how I feel about our OL.
