Well, commentators frequently talk about the swirling winds inside Lambeau Field, so it's always been recognized (as long as I've been watching football) as a difficult place to kick.

Anyhow I was hoping non took those stats from the article, column whatever ya call it that I inked up last week. That's what I was getting at Raider.

Agreed on a few points. I think Crosby is fine, and any field goal over 50 yards is bonus anyhow. The fact that he has misses from that distance suggests that the coaching staff actually trusts that he might be able to get it from that distance.

As to the holder situation - that actually IS very important. My son has been a high level kicker (he's 18) for a few years now, and his success really does have a lot to do with the holder. Yes, on converts and shorter kicks it's easy to cover up for the fact that your holder is not doing *quite* what you want him to do, but on the longer stuff where angle and velocity are a lot more important, the hold is also that much more important.

I don't really have any problem with Crosby this year so far.

Also, with the success over 50 yards, I think that Nonstopdrivel's take of at least 5 attempts is reasonable. 1-1 means nothing, 2-2 is fine, but a bigger sample pool is required to determine whether or not a kicker really is accurate at that great distance.

That's true, especially since they installed all those luxury boxes up there.

Three NFL kickers have attempted 5 or more field goals from 50 yards or more. They are Josh Scobee (2-6), Ryan Succop (2-5), and Mason Crosby (1-5). What exactly are you complaining about?

figured you would disagree with , that was a given, any way when the game is on the line he scares me, not saying he stinks , just very nervous about him in a big spot !!

My question is, have we ever had a kicker who was a very reliable in Green Bay? After installing the luxury boxes, we've only had Longwell, Rayner, Cundiff and Crosby, right? I don't quite recall how Crosby compares to those guys, but I'm sure he's not the worst of the bunch.

The original post stated Crosby was not automatic from 50. He's no longer automatic from even less now.

This has to be fixed. There's no point having a guy with a strong leg who misses the posts. We don't get any points if he kicks it out of the stadium wide right.

In fact an inaccurate strong legged guy is more of a liability because you end up handing over possession in midfield.

The Bears kicker may only do chip shots but at least you know where his range is and if your not there you punt or go for it.

Not knowing what Crosby can do may cost us down the stretch.

Well let's hope he doesn't have to try a long one this week, if I rmember right, there has never been a 50yd or longer FG made at Heinze field(that could be to win a game), but I think it is never.

Kickers go through slumps, hopefully MC has had his and will be his rookie self again the rest of this year.

We will see, but again, unless The Colts release Stover when Vanderjagt(sp?) gets healthy, I don't know of anyone else out there that would be any better.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!
