Brad Jones will be replacing Kampman this week. Upgrade?
Jordi's back too.
Oh yeah, and it looks like Lang could start at RT.

I seriously doubt that.

My question is, what on earth happend to Jeremy Thompson? Did I completely miss something? I'm pretty sure that he was the projected starter opposite of Kampman in training camp.

Jones has apparently moved ahead of him on the depth chart. Both Kampman and Poppinga are out right now.
I like Brad Jones. Should be interesting to see him play.

Interesting to scroll through this old gem again. I'd forgotten that I had called for McCarthy to be relieved of playcalling duties after the embarrassing loss to the Buccaneers. Even though I'm glad Ted Thompson didn't make the knee-jerk reaction some of us were making, I still strongly disagree with the style of offense McCathy persisted in running that season, in a year in which the offensive line made it abundantly clear they couldn't protect Rodgers. McCarthy was playing with fire that year.

On the other hand, it might be argued that as risky as it was, the spread offense was the only reason the Packers were in games that year, and that may well be true.

Anyway, I guess it's all irrelevant now. They say that winning cures everything, though I don't really agree with that notion.

Hmm ultimate foot in the mouth thread for everyone it seems. Especially me:

Mike McCarthy needs to go. He obviously can't coach this team. Same damn mistakes every week. And keeps saying "we'll fix it"
WHEN?

"djcubez" wrote:

This says it all right here. It's not like it's a new thing killing us each week but the same damn thing. We know exactly what to fix and it doesn't get fixed. I've been called biased, a homer and a lot of other things because I always have optimism for the team I care about, but mark my words we are NEVER going to win a Super Bowl under McCarthy. The team is too undisciplined and he makes bad personnel decisions. McCarthy is a glorified quarterbacks coach who would probably be a decent offensive coordinator but he can't handle the game-managing that being a head coach entails. I'll just be happy if Rodgers gets through the season.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

Been a McCarthy supporter from the beginning. He lost me today. I can't put up with mediocrity. It seems as if he can.

"djcubez" wrote:

Same here. You can't lose to an 0-7 team with a rookie QB starting his first game. Ever. McCarthy has lost my support and even if we get hot and starting winning he'll still be in my doghouse. You can't keep going out there and doing the same thing without changing and expect to win ball games. I mean our three top defensive players aren't even playing to their natural strengths with all the zone coverage.

I will point out though that after we lost this game we haven't lost a game by more than 7 points since. And if McCarthy did continue to spiral downward after this loss he probably would have lost his job. Funny how things can change. And it's funny how that's exactly what happened. This season McCarthy seemed to have changed; he made more mid-game adjustments; he got his players to execute his scheme better; he had more confidence in his team and it showed. Overall he seemed to improve upon the complaints many of us had in this thread.

I am embarrassed that I called Ted Thompson average.

Mike McCarthy learned a lot from that Tampa Bay loss. He was at a crossroads then and he made some changes. He did nothing radical, but enough to right the ship. Yeah, the fans learned something that day too, but so did the coaches, especially McCarthy.

We also knew little of what would happen with the Buccaneers this year.

There are a number of prominent posters from that thread who are conspicuously absent these days.
