It Tauscher can't go, I'd start T.J. Lang at right tackle. I think it might be his best position.

Did you notice that all six sacks came when Tauscher was out of the game? Maybe Barbre sucks so much he brings our whole line down. And yes I like Lang at RT.

A weird thought just occurred to me. Is it possible the reason why we have a top-five defense is because our opponents start out with such excellent field position that our defense just doesn't have too many yards to give up? As has been pointed out in other threads, the Bucs had all of two drives of more than 50 yards. Our defense may not have given up many yards, but they didn't have many yards to give. Maybe the numbers are deceiving. I'm not sure how this could be analyzed, though.

The thing is. We will win this game. No question about it. The problem is people are going to be asking "Who the hell are the Packers?"

The answer (to me) is, a young, inexperienced team that doesn't know how to be consistent because the coaching staff can't find ways to bring it out of them.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

I don't know man. You would expect them to come out and not F around and just really be focused this week. This team really doesn't ever give up, as far as fighting and trying to win games even when they're down.
But man. They just don't show up mentally prepared. I see them flashing the ability to completely whip Dallas, but losing the game based on ugly suckage.

I can't see anything but a loss against the Cowboys. Our weak O-Line couldn't defend against a lowly Bucs front rush... what are the 'boys gonna do to us. McCarthy says the o-line issues are fixeable ( ::roll: ) well if he wants Rodgers to be able to walk after the game he better make good on this. Looks like we won't have Kampman so what little we could get on pressuring QBs will be even less now.

"Scottish_Packer" wrote:

Losing Kampman won't necessarily make us worse. Unless we were planning to revert back to the 4-3.

You know what else bugs me that people rarely bring up? We don't generate any sacks. As a team, we've sacked the opposing QB 13 times total, while allowing 37. That's almost 1/3rd. No, not acceptable.

We have to generate more pressure to win more games.

"zombieslayer" wrote:

The defense has played well enough to win every game so far.
In fact, I'd say that if opposing teams didn't keep getting the ball in our territory, they'd probably have alot more sacks.
It takes more plays to go 80 yards than it does to go 40. That means more chances at the QB. Plus, if teams are behind, you know they have to throw the ball.

Only way the Pack win this very important game is if the running game is going, if not, its a wrap

It's an IMPORTANT game. They won't win.

But Zero we have been pretty much the youngest team since Ted Thompson has gotten his hands on this team. That in itself is the problem i think. I'm tired of the excuse we are the youngest team.

This is a legitimate theory.
Is all this sloppiness due to the inexperience factor?

Rodgers came in and played well against Dallas when Brent got hurt, Remember?????

ya capers scheme isnt good enough IMO what he is doing isnt good enough

look at the broncos - they also did a new defense this year. And they are 3rd with sacks at 26. Now are their guys much better then ours? ... I dont think so. Ill take our D players over theirs anyday.

ok what denver isnt good enough - how about the DC sean mcdermott we went after; at philadelphia (first year DC at phily) (now their guys could be better then ours - bit iffy there). They are 2nd in the league with 27 sacks.

Capers needs to be more aggressive with the right guys. Stop blitizing a corner and come with some powerhouse backers. Bishop/hawk/kampman/matthews (these guys can all blitz alright - chillar and barnett do ok but they do better coverage jobs then blitzes).

oh ya we are 29th in the sack department.

and ya I dont blame our players

Jolly, pickett, and jenkins have been outstanding IMO (much much better then I could have imagined).

"zombieslayer" wrote:

Dulak - I was one of the people cheering loudly when we got Dom Capers. I really hate it when I'm this wrong.

Our D isn't that impressive. It generates no pressure and so far this year, we haven't had the big plays we had last year on our 6-10 team on D.

I don't get it. I honestly don't. Does Capers need more time? Well, you answered that question with your examples. So I guess that excuse isn't valid.

And I agree, it's not our players. I love our D. I love Woody, Kampy, Harris, Collins, Barnett, and Jenkins. Jolly is good. Hawk can use improvement but he's still a decent player. Matthews is impressive in his first 8 games. So you can't really say it's the personnel.

I just want to know WTF is going on out there? Why are we allowing so many points? How did we allow all those points to the Bucs, who we should have slaughtered?

"Dulak" wrote:

Let's see, blocked punt returned for a TD, Rodgers pick 6, that's 14. The Bucs got the ball in their own red zone TWICE. That's another 14. That accounts for 28 points right there.
