Longwell wanted to kick indoors. So he left. What can you do?

How can you take Crosby over Longwell?

That's a very fair assessment.

80% vs. a 92.3% not to mention the kick crosby just missed

But the point makes no sense at all. Do any of you actually ever look up anything? Or listen to anyone? Or maybe, maybe shut up when you don't know a thing about a subject?

Like Cheesey said, he wanted to kick indoors. Next to that, Crosby was just in college when Longwell left.

The Packers weren't ready to play the game. The penalty by Jolly that allowed the Vikings to score their first TD was the pivotal play. The Packers never recovered from it. Very disappointing.

The OL did play better in the second half, but they still broke down when the game was on the line. And when Rodgers had time, the receivers had trouble getting open. They never got open deep, not even once, against a supposedly weak Vikings secondary.

Dom Capers lost all respect when he called a three-man rush on 3rd and 17 and Favre easily completed a pass for a first down. Later, he did put more pressure on Favre, and our guys still couldn't get to him. Zero sacks. Again.

I knew the Vikings were the better team coming into this game, but I thought the Packers could find a way to win. What I didn't count on was that the Vikings are quite a bit better than the Packers right now. Michael Strahan said it best at halftime: The Vikings know what to expect from themselves, and the Packers look like a team that just isn't there yet. Now they will have to scramble just to get into the playoffs.

I agree on the 3rd and 17 play. How often do you need to get exploited on a 3-man rush with everyone else in coverage before you figure out that it doesn't work? It's an ongoing sequince in his entire career. Started again a couple of games ago. Bring more guys. Get the ball out and let him settle for a short completion.

That said, we played decently later on. It was just horrible early on. On both sides of the ball.

I think the opposite may be true - the Packers were too excited to play, and were not as disciplined as they should have been.

Can't blame them for being so excited, it was a playoff atmosphere. But the coaches have to be able to settle guys down.

Unfortunately, I don't have much faith these days in our coaches to be able to do much of anything right.

Rodgers came out looking to throw downfield every play. I place the blame for that squarely on McCarthy.

These two games against the Vikings gave our team some playoff-like hyped games for experience.

I see the distinction you are making, but for me, that still fits into the category of not being ready to play the game. The Vikings just look so much more confident and professional right now. They have a lot of talent and they know it. The Packers seem to go from cocky to angry to despondent, sometimes from one play to the next.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
