Ok.....in line with that other thread on the wedding proposal, just how did you propose.....or get proposed to.......by your significant other?

I met my wife at a roller skating rink in Missoula when I was a Freshman in college. She was still in high school. I about killed her when I ran her over while trying to evade a tag in an impromptu tag game. By the end of the night we were a couple and I proposed to her the next Christmas when she came home to Milwaukee with me to meet my family. Right under a street light on the corner of Lake Drive and Hampton Ave. Those of you that live around there, if you drive by that intersection, pause and remember...."that's the corner where Bob went squirrely."

45 years later we're still together and I'm still running over her. She just shakes her head and mutters "what an idiot."

I gave her the ring in the middle of Sears and said "here".

Heck, I'm 51 and still trying to figure out how to get a date.

Proposing marriage -- might as well ask what I'd do as Sec General of the UN.

Christmas, 2005. We are spending it with my side of the family. We play a game for the gift exchange due to the enormousity of our family. We simply call it 'The Dice Game'. We each buy 1-2 gifts (gags, serious, whatever), wrap it, and throw it in a big pile. We then circle the pile and start rolling a pair of dice (we normally have about 3 pairs in pie tins), we start out with one roll per pair, and if we get doubles, we then select a gift from the pile. We do this until the pile is gone. Then we set a timer and start rolling the dice again. Only this time when we get pairs, we 'steal' gifts from other peoples pile. This goes on for a set time (15-30 minutes). Every year there's a certain gift or two that everyone fights for.. more specifically during the 'stealing' session. This particular year, it was a big box wrapped in green Care Bear wrapping paper. When the timer buzzed, Shanna was the one that ended up with it. Since everyone wants to know what they were fighting for, she had to open that one up before anyone else opened their gifts. Inside that box, was another box. And inside that box was a book labeled 'The Duct Tape Bound Tomb (big misspelling by me) . Everyone laughed.. Ha ha ha. Then Shanna opened it . When she put the book down, I was on my knee and popped the question. It was awesome, because all the females in my family were crying. =D

Oh, and in case you were wondering how I was able to coordinate the timer with Shanna ending up with that gift.. My uncle was the only other person that knew the plan, and he ran the timer. So after awhile of the gift bouncing around person to person.. when Shanna got it, he adjusted the timer to go off.

Wow Bob, I live right over there and I drive down Lake Drive probably once a week. I'm over on Park and Bartlett by the fire station (if you know where that is).

And Formo--that's awesome! A well coordinated white elephant exchange.
