Throw the ball to set up the run, that is what GB did yesterday, 90yds rushing by Ryan Grant, wear down the defense and then pound the ball.

Look at all the great runnining backs(and I am not calling RG great),their numbers go up as the game goes on.

I maintain my theory. Give Grant more carries, you'll get more production out of him and the OL.

Tack on another W to the category of giving Grant more than 20 carries = Packers win.

Penalties can be added to offensive line woes as GBs biggest problem. It's just getting ridiculous. Personally, the coaching staff needs to make this a focus on the week.

OK, I shouldn't be laughing at our problems, but couldn't help that one.

Porky - Yeah, as much as I'm a pass first guy, I'd like to see Grant run for 100+ yards. He's getting paid to be that guy. I'd like to see that production. And yes, let's see what Jackson can do too.

I agree with that, just seems futile to run him time and time again early, pick your spots, yesterday was a good example, RG got most of his yards in the second half.

I would have loved to have seen Aaron Rodgers still throwing the ball late, but when you have a big lead, that is the time to let your running game finish the game.

The Packers O-line either isn't built to power run, or they just are not good enough, that is why I keep saying set up the run with the pass.

I think we agree on what needs to be done, just don't agree on how to get there.

Either way, a win in The NFL is a win!!! (See NYJ and Eagles).

I will elaborate a bit more on this too. I don't think McCarthy does the running game any favors. I want you to try this next week. Predict running plays. I do it in the chat at times. I'm normally right.

Look at the tackles feet. On a run play and pass play. See a difference? Is it consistent?

Formation, 2FB, 1RB = most times, run or short quick pass.

I'd like to see more creativity out of our running formations. Throw some spread offense w/run out there. Mix it up and do it OFTEN. We have an explosive offense that can make up for lost ground.

In my little world, I think like this.
More runs do this ...
Better OL play. How? Because they ATTACK instead of react to getting rushed.
Defense gets worn down from getting HIT instead of teeing off.
Increases time of possession which keeps our defense more fresh.
And as Mike has said, running is about ATTITUDE! We need to have a no bullshit no nonsense attitude on this team. Beat people up! You do this by RUNNING THE BALL!!! (thats to the coach)

It's because coach realizes if we try and go man on man we cant run block. We dont have the horses up front to make it happen. Our(Packers) best offense is gonna be a lot of shotgun, some draws, and short crossing routes just like the Patriots run. Our personell is not best utilized with trying to pretend to be a power run team.

We are who we are. Time for adjustments is in March/April.

You hit it right on the head Z2C.
The Browns game is the perfect opportunity to run Grant 30 times and Jackson (if he can stay healthy) 10+ times and see what the running game can actually do.
We already know what the passing game can do, let's try to get this running game untracked.

Positives:
1) 26-0.
2) TJ Lang
3) Clay Matthews
4) Loved Collins' big hit.
5) Loved Bigby's interception in the red zone to preserve the shutout.

Negatives:
1) It was the Lions. A banged up, depleted version of what was already a bad team.
2) Clifton. He looked terrible, only partly because they brought him back too early.
3) Offense looked great for the first 5 minutes, then... pfft. 4 field goals to show for, what? 6 trips to the red zone?
4) Gave up 4 sacks to a defensive line made up of 3rd-stringers and ex-bagboys.
5) First time in memory I didn't feel good about a 26-point win...

I agree, Oline/Run game are the biggest problem. Getting the run moving will pay dividends for the pass protection. Sometimes I don't understand MM. When the team has Spitz and Sutton they run stretch ZBS plays, when Spitz is out, with the far less physical Wells at center, we try running up the gut.

Right now it does not matter if we even try to run, because teams are just pass rushing us. We need to run the ball against Cleveland. I don't care if it is netting 0 yards. Run the damn ball until Grants legs fall off.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!
