There is one big difference between Tauscher and Clifton this year.

Clifton is making over $6 million this season while Tauscher is pretty much at the veterans minimum.

I'm not sold on Lang being the answer at LT, but at this point, he can't really play much worse than Colledge or Clifton have at times, so let's see what he can do while Clifton is out probably for at least the next couple of weeks.

I think once the season is over though, it's obvious addressing the tackle position in FA and/or the draft with at least one first day pick is probably going to be a must because there's a pretty good chance Tauscher and Clifton won't be back next season.

I wanted Clifton gone this offseason and was disappointed that he made the final roster. I didn't think he had a prayer of being reliable, and thus far he hasn't been able to stay on his feet for more than a couple of consecutive weeks. Then after he went down with injury, I was pretty sure he'd be rushed back too fast and would promptly reaggravate the injury, because that's what almost always seems to happen with ankles, especially with linemen. People on this board scoff at ankle injuries, but the fact is they can render a man for all practical purposes lame.

So he goes down again. When are we going to reconcile ourselves to the obvious fact that Clifton is no longer the answer -- short term or long term -- to our offensive line woes? And now we want to put our faith in Tauscher, because he's been reliable in the past. I don't get it.

If Rodgers goes down with a season-ending -- or heaven forbid, a career-threatening -- injury, by God, I hope a mob storms the next stockholders meeting. I don't care what philosophy Mike McCarthy may have about showing confidence in his guys and forcing them to get the job done, the fact is they're failing miserably. He needs to find another solution.

25 sacks in 5 games. Pathetic.

Last season I was expecting Clifton to be gone this year. That sort of died when Tauscher went down. No team ever want to go into and off season having to replace both bookends. I believe in Tauscher, because he is an extremely smart man and player, and plays with fundamentals, not with athleticism. I also want him healthy and reliable, so this next off season we are no longer in the position of need trying to find two starting tackles.

I'm just slightly confused that we are in this position. We picked Raji at number nine overall and he's barely made an impact this season. No, I'm not saying we shouldn't have picked him, I'm just saying in hindsight we might have been better off drafting a tackle at that spot.

We might have been better off right now had we drafted an OT. Thankfully, we're only five games in. I know people like to see immediate results and Raji hasn't delivered in that category ... but it's entirely too early to speculate as to which player we should have taken. Based on the information the Packers' front office had, the best two players on the board were Crabtree and Raji. Was tackle a bigger need? At this point, I'd say obviously. But we're not one rookie OT away from a Super Bowl.

Not a big deal, but I think draft re-evaluation is premature at this point.

There's no question Lang is an upgrade in run blocking. The question is can he hold up in pass protection. We will likely find out this week.
