What I want to know is WHY does there have to be two checking accounts? The joint account and HERS? I have lost track of how many times I have run across this phenomenon including my wife.

I wouldn't put up with that. Perhaps I'd go for a joint and we each had our own, but no way would I allow a joint account and hers. Marriage is a partnership, not a matriarchy.

in all seriousness, it's mostly cuz the child support goes into mine which is to be used for the boys so it's not really an issue.

I can't say I'm surprised. ;)


My daughters mother and husband. He has his own and he has a joint account with her and he has the override for the joint account. Kind of twisted eh? lol

The ones that frustrate me the most are the older couples who had prior marriages and want to keep their finances separated. (Heaven forbid that the child of one of them gets money that the other's child just might inherit.)
I have seen were the adult kids of the wealthier person are the ones who put up the biggest fuss.
Some times I have to break down how much each car costs to insure and they write two checks. The fun part is the house. Can't divide that very well.
